Fall
Alina Lieske Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Phoebe the summer
Mom adores wintertime
And Dad agrees
But I just close my eyes and smile
Chess doesn't care
Neither does Lizzy
But I just turn my head and look outside
It's fall, my fall
That gives me the strength
To start again each year
The trust in my own god
It's fall, my fall
And I get back to me
May there be
A white december
May there be
A wonderful july
But I just keep my tears inside
You may think
March is renewing
You may think
We're living every day
But I don't burn 'til leaves turn red
It's fall, my fall that makes me aware
Of all that's worth it still
One day I may succeed
It's fall, may fall,
It's fall, my fall
It's fall, my fall
And I get back
And I get back
To me
In this song, Alina Lieske speaks about her love for the fall season. She starts by mentioning how everyone has their favorite season, but she just closes her eyes and smiles because she loves fall. Others around her don't care about the season, but she turns her head and looks outside because that's where her heart is. She then talks about how fall is what gives her strength to start each year anew and to trust in her own god. She has a deep appreciation for the fall season, and it's what makes her aware of all that's still worth it in the world.
The verses that follow show how Alina Lieske does not burn until the leaves turn red, indicating that it's only in the fall that she feels truly alive. She states that March may be renewing and that people may think they're living every day, but she only gets back to herself in the fall. She mentions that she just keeps her tears inside when other seasons pass, but it's only in the fall that she can truly be herself.
The overall message of this song is about finding beauty and strength in a season that may typically be seen as one of decline and loss. It's about finding hope and renewal in the midst of change and darkness.
