Vasaris
Alina Orlova Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Tavo miestas - betoninės kaladėlės,
Kvailos varnos vis prišąla prie laidų.
Aš naminė tavo kanarėlė,
Man nešalta, tik truputį neramu.

Ei, maitinki iš delno mane,
Šis narvelis per ankštas - ar ne?
Gink savo liūdesį lauk, ar žinai –
Vasaris nebus amžinai,
Vasaris nebus amžinai...

Tavo miestas - betoninės kaladėlės,
Kvailos varnos pergraužė laidus,
Rytas sirpsta, o lange vasario mėlis -
Išvažiuokim į pietus.

Ei, maitinki iš delno mane,
Šis narvelis per ankštas - ar ne?
Gink savo liūdesį lauk, ar žinai –

Vasaris nebus amžinai,
Vasaris nebus amžinai...

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Alina Orlova's song "Vasaris" describe a city made up of concrete blocks and wires that are often visited by foolish crows. The singer of the song imagines herself as a caged canary who finds comfort in this environment despite feeling a bit uneasy. She then turns to the person who might be listening to her and asks whether he can nourish her right from his hand instead of the cramped cage she is in now. She alludes to the fact that the month of February (Vasaris) will not last forever, implying that this moment of entrapment will soon end.

The second verse of the song describes the city again but this time the crows have completely destroyed the wires which symbolizes the decay of the city. The morning light has started to separate and the singer looks outside and sees the greyish, lifeless sky. She asks her listener if they can go on a trip together to the south, in search of warmth and happiness. The singer then repeats her previous lyrics indicating that the transitional time that they are going through will soon come to an end, and with it, this feeling of captivity.

Overall, the song can be interpreted as a call to break free from the constraints of a mundane and unhappy life by finding comfort and hope in people whom we trust. It suggests that no matter how bleak the present may seem, it will not last forever and change is imminent.
