Life of the Party
All Time Low Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

All these people are passed out on the floor in my hotel room
I don't know half of them, but they all wanna know me
And it's four in the morning, I'm just trying to fix myself
What the hell did I do? I'm the life of the party
I'm the life of the party

Somewhere in between who I used to be
And who I'll be tomorrow when the champagne blows my mind
Thrills don't come for free, the price you pay for dreams
In a sea of strangers, I can't find me anymore, anymore
I can't find me anymore

I keep thinking about you, how you level me out sometimes
When I'm out on my head, and I don't wanna face it
You said it's all for a reason, what the fuck is the reason now?
Coming down, bring me back, I'm the life of the party
I'm the life of the party

Somewhere in between who I used to be
And who I'll be tomorrow when the champagne blows my mind
Thrills don't come for free, the price you pay for dreams
In a sea of strangers, I can't find me anymore (anymore)
I can't find me anymore (anymore)

I can't find me anymore

Now it's four in the morning and I'm trying to fix myself
What the hell did I do? I'm the life of the party
It's so hard to imagine who I'd be if i walked away
Never know what it's like to be the life of the party
I'm the life of the party
I'm the life of the party

Somewhere in between who I used to be
And who I'll be tomorrow when the champagne blows my mind
Thrills don't come for free, the price you pay for dreams
In a sea of strangers, I can't find me anymore (anymore)
I can't find me anymore (anymore)

(There's a sea of strangers) I can't find me anymore

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of All Time Low's song "Life of the Party" depict a party scene where the singer is wrestling with the consequences of being the life of the party. The song talks about the singer being surrounded by a lot of people, some of whom he doesn't know. It is four in the morning, and he is "trying to fix himself," which implies that he might be intoxicated or high. He asks himself, "What the hell did I do?" which points towards the realization that he might have made some mistakes while inebriated. The chorus repeats, "I'm the life of the party," which is a phrase often used to refer to the person who is the center of attention at any gathering.

The song also speaks about the singer's inner turmoil, illustrating his confusion regarding his own identity. He is caught "Somewhere in between who I used to be and who I'll be tomorrow," alluding to his struggle to reconcile his past and his future. The line "Thrills don't come for free, the price you pay for dreams" highlights the cost of the singer's aspirations and the sacrifices that he may have to make to achieve them. The singer says that he cannot find himself in a "sea of strangers" anymore.

The song addresses the singer's romantic feelings towards someone who helps keep him grounded, even in these situations. The person being referred to says that everything happens for a reason, but the singer is unsure of what that reason might be. He longs for this individual to be present with him, which would help him find himself again. The song ends with the singer wondering who he would be if he walked away from it all and if he would still be the "life of the party."

Girls don't come for free
The price you pay for dreams
In the sea of strangers
I can't find me anymore
I can't find me anymore

I keep thinking about you
How you level me out sometimes

Comin' down
Bring me back

What I like about ATL is how their lyrics always reflect something, and are a lot deeper than a lot of music nowadays. I think their sound is like the whole 'too pop for rock, too rock for pop' saying, but I like the fact that even if they're changing their sound, the lyrics are still meaningful

TiderForLifeSince2016 I totally agree on this I actually have brought this up with my brother a few times cause, yeah, their sound might be changing but their lyrics still have a lot of meaning to them. I actually like where they're going too with this whole pop type thing.
