The River
All Together Separate Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
My hope like stones in the dust lay
Fast pace to escape
My search for living water
Cool breeze on the water top
Smooth shine on a silver rock
Lord please let Your current see
[Chorus:]
Lose myself
Cover me over
Find my life
Down at the river
Cut deep into shallow ground
Through me You can flow now
Winding to the blue sea off in the distance
And Sundays always come around
Down at the river
The song "The River" by All Together Separate speaks of hopelessness that seeks a way out. The lyrics of the song speak of the struggle to find living water in the middle of the dry thoughts of a better day. The singer's hope is shattered and has become like dust, a symbol of what hopelessness can do to an individual. The verse explains the struggles of the person trying to escape the current state of hopelessness. The continuous search for living water is unending until the Lord's current sees through to the inside.
The chorus of the song tries to express the longing of the individual to lose themselves and be covered in the water. The pain they have feels as if it is drowning them and the only way out is for the water to cover and take them. The lyrics symbolize the need to be renewed so that they may find their life down at the river. This request is desperate and shows the need to be released from the pain felt.
