Sex in the Rain
Allan Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

The leaves of brown came tumbling down
Remember in September in the rain
The sun went out just like a dying amber
That September in the rain

To every word of love i heard you whisper
The raindrops seemed to play our sweet refrain
Though spring is here to me it's still September
That September in the rain

To every word of love i heard you whisper
The raindrops seemed to play our sweet refrain
Though spring is here to me it is still September
That September in the rain

That September that brought the pain
That September in the rain

Overall Meaning

The opening lines of Allan's song "Sex in the Rain" are a reference to the classic song "September in the Rain." It's a song about lost love and nostalgia, and Allan uses it to set the tone for his own song. The leaves of brown tumbling down recall the image of autumn and things coming to an end. The sun going out like a dying ember is a metaphor for a relationship ending. In the third and fourth line, Allan sings of hearing whispered words of love in the rain. This can represent a time of heightened romance and the intensity of that love.

Allan continues to mention that although spring has arrived, it still feels like September to him. This could mean that even though time has passed, he still associates this loss with this season. The final line, "That September that brought the pain," solidifies this idea that this was a painful time for Allan. However, there is a hint of optimism in his lyrics as he mentions Sex in the Rain. This can represent a new start or maybe a different way of finding love.
