I'm not sure how to confirm, but it's kind of a well known fact. There are many times when other members of N'Sync, or other artists he collaborated have praised his work ethic and positive attitude. An example of him making sure not to steal the show would be his performance of This I Promise You with Matthew Morrison in London. When they get to the final verse, JC doesn't do his solos, because it's Morrison's show. They did the song again in NYC, and Matthew kind of gives him the signal to go ahead, and sings like he never took time off.

J.C has a better voice than Justin. He has a natural, smooth, jazzy, and soulful R&B voice that can go on any track. I guess he just had a bad deal with the record company. I always dig for anything with his voice on it.

+marie7772, No it's not just a matter of opinion, it's a fact! Science backs it up! JC actually does have the superior voice out the two, a 4 octave range (while most male vocalists have 2-3 tops; even Bruno Mars doesn't have the range JC has). You understand how extremely rare that is for a man? Yes I understand some male rockers can have that range (but they are mainly using their head voice and just screeching). Most other male singers that I've ever encountered or heard have this incredible range have been gospel singers.

Even today, there is NO male vocalist alive today (in mainstream music) who can match JC's vocal abilities (and even if some of them can hit the hard notes, it doesn't mean their vocal tones sound that good).

As a vocalist, JC is very undervalued in the industry. Thankfully, Smokey doesn't have to lie/owe anyone anything by promoting a false narrative. He calls them like he sees them (much like Aretha's response to the Taylor Swift), Smokey has stated himself that JC's voice is like a freak of nature and that he's got a "natural brotha's voice" without even trying to imitate.

True vocalists/underground acts would rather work with JC and that says a lot too!.

That's very cool, do you remember where Smokey said this(just in case I ever want to throw it in someone's face one of these days when they are dragging JC down for no good reason).

And about other acts, that's true, they don't get anything for praising JC, he doesn't have power or influence to raise them up if they kiss his backside - but they seem so chuffed to be working with him and speak of him with such respect that you know it's genuine.

But god his voice is beautiful, I've been on a "Build Some Love" demo kick recently and he does some really interesting things with the vocal melody on that song.

Man, Smokey still sounds so amazing! That man's still got it. Very rarely legends age well with their voices. JC and Aloe Blacc sound fantastic here too. This is what can happen when you put people who are equally talented (basically on the same level of greatness) in the same room and allow them to create beautiful music together. Bravo fellas! Those women were all lucky to be there to witness this. Talent like this doesn't exist like it use to (I mean it does, but they will never get their chance to hit it big like old school artists because of all the BS currently plaguing the industry).

Omg! Totally eargasm music! That was so smooth and it was live! I so want to hear this on the album! Dammit, JC, I bow down to ya! The bees do evny you, sweetie! The entertainment industry totally slept on JC. He's a great dancer, song writer, producer, and one hell of a musician and singer. And he can act too! Total talent, through and through! I've liked him since I was 18 and he was on MMC but became a true fan of his when he got to shine more in NSYNC. And I have loved Smokey since I was a little girl in the 70s..Aloe Blacc, I'm a new fan of his and got into his music thanks to Amber and Derek dancing to his song during their freestyle. Perfect combination with these three talented musicians. I hope they work together again.

@eTheReal Deal It’s more like Justin was able to jump the gun first and sing the type of music that JC should have been singing. The label didn’t want two competing artists singing the same type of music so JC was kind of forced into a more alternative edgy vibe which didn’t really fit his style at all. There’s a really great video series I just watched that goes into detail about just how badly Justin’s success derailed his career, including how boobgate at the Super Bowl impacted JC’s promo.

JC was always my favorite. I remember listening to "Tearing Up My Heart" and hearing him sing for the first time, thinking, "Who is this guy?!" His voice had me hooked from then on. When he sang with that girl band-don't remember who-I freaked out! My sisters swore up and down it was a black dude, but I said, "He's white as walls! It's him!"

Yes. Smokey still sounds so good, and this gave me flashbacks of listening to his records with the Miracles with my mom when I was a little girl. As someone who has followed JC since the Mickey Mouse Club, even as a teenager he could blow. He can sing any genre or style, but no matter what he sings that soul in his voice still comes through. JT toward the end kind of became the face of *NSYNC and the most famous member, but JC from beginning to end was always the soul of the group.
