In 2001, she released her first single titled Never. Never ended becoming Perez' first charting single in her career, peaking at #79 on the Billboard Hot 100. In April 2002, she released her first album titled Where You At?, under the independent label, Powerhouse Records. Angel was released as the first single from the album, and peaked at #20 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming her first and only Top 20 single. Her second single, I Like It did not chart on the Billboard Hot 100, but became a club and urban hit for Perez.
In 2004, Perez released her third album titled I Pray. The album peaked lower than her previous album, peaking at #90 on the Billboard 200, and only one single was released from the album. The single, I Pray, failed to chart on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming her first single to fail to chart.
In 2007, Perez released her fourth album titled The Hand of Fate. The album peaked at #38 on the Billboard 200.
