Dancing Queen
Amanda Seyfried & Stellan Skar Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Ooh, you can dance, you can jive
Having the time of your life
Ooh, see that girl, watch that scene
Digging the dancing queen

Friday night and the lights are low
Looking out for the place to go
Where they play the right music, getting in the swing
You come to look for a king

Anybody could be that guy
Night is young and the music's high
With a bit of rock music, everything is fine
You're in the mood for a dance

And when you get the chance

You are the dancing queen
Young and sweet, only seventeen
Dancing queen
Feel the beat from the tambourine, oh yeah

You can dance, you can jive
Having the time of your life
Ooh, see that girl, watch that scene
Digging the dancing queen

You're a teaser, you turn them on
Leave them burning and then you're gone
Looking out for another, anyone will do
You're in the mood for a dance

And when you get the chance

You are the dancing queen
Young and sweet, only seventeen
Dancing queen
Feel the beat from the tambourine, oh yeah

You can dance, you can jive
Having the time of your life
Ooh, see that girl, watch that scene
Digging the dancing queen

I love how Stellan answered that question. He was most proud of his sons characters as people and not their achievements.

Why people think that there is something wrong with being single? Leave him alone…

Morticia Gomez616

Because it’s not right to be single.... what’s wrong with you?

Mari

no one has claimed that the single was anything wrong !!!!!!!

I don’t think he puts that much importance on getting married (or the institution of it). I think he wants the long term commitment. A lifelong partner. He may get married to his forever person eventually, but marriage is a piece of paper and isn’t all that important/harped on in Swedish culture. He definitely wants kids, but he’s still waiting to find the right person, and I’m not convinced he is going to find that person in the entertainment industry. I think it’s more likely that he will end up with someone who is not in the public eye. He wants someone down to earth and who he can have an actual family life with, not all in the public eye.
I don’t think that’s too much to ask for and I really hope he finds it. Everything that I know of him says he’s a great man, so he definitely deserves it.

@vaskylark I get the value of marriage and not taking it forgranted but i don't like the toxic religion. I think it's super petty to ice someone out just because they don't fit the perfect religion picture because NO ONE fits that. I'm glad you left that church.

vaskylark

@Ann-Christine Nilsson Absolutely. That's not what we were talking about though, but obviously that is correct. What I meant though is that take my situation for example: I'm Catholic, and in my religion divorce isn't recognized or okay, so if I blew it with my husband then I'd be going against my church and I wouldn't be able to remarry in the church again. I'd also probably be kicked out of it. Now, I'm not that religious, spiritual yes for sure, but I don't regularly attend anymore but I do have a healthy respect for marriage, so I'm likely to work harder before I ever divorced. That's really all I meant. I think many jump into marriage too fast and then also jump out of marriage too fast too. That shows lack of respect for marriage on both counts. That's why ya see people with four failed marriages and planning their fifth wedding. It's ridiculous. It's better to wait until you are sure ya met Mr. or Mrs Right, and then wait longer before taking the plunge. To each his/her own though.

Ann-Christine Nilsson

@vaskylark Being in a relationship in general regardless if you are married or not is hard.

vaskylark

Nobody should get married if they don't value the institution of marriage. Marriage is hard. I know, I've been married for thirty years. If marriage doesn't mean much to you then you absolutely will fail at it because it is so hard. You have to value the sanctity of marriage in order to have a long, fruitful marriage. Don't marry if you don't feel the same, or have a good divorce attorney all lined up before you take the plunge.

I think the reason alex hasn't married is because he hasn't found the right woman for him to settle down and have a family with he's right to not just to settle for less 🤔🚶‍♂️💑💏👨‍👧‍👧
