New Morning
Amandine Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
On a night so serene
So this is the truth
That love faced us with
We're wide awake
Waiting for dawn
And for us to carry on
We finally spoke
Of our hearts true desire
And our voices were strong
For the firs time in years
We're wide awake
A new morning above
But nothing sticks like love
The lyrics to Amandine's song "New Morning" talk about the end of a conflict in a relationship. The singer describes a peaceful night where they have come to an agreement with their partner, and this mutual understanding is the result of love. The first two lines "We called a truce On a night so serene" indicate that the conflict was serious but is now over.
The singer speaks of the truth that they have finally admitted to each other, a "true desire" that maybe they were afraid to express before. The third line "So this is the truth" makes it clear that they are sharing their true feelings. The fourth and fifth line "That love faced us with We're wide awake" shows that it is their love that brought them to this point where they are openly talking about their emotions. The chorus "We're wide awake, Waiting for dawn And for us to carry on" further illustrates that this is a new beginning for their relationship.
Towards the end of the song, the singer explains how heartfelt and authentic their conversation was. "And our voices were strong For the first time in years" expresses their relief at finally being honest with themselves and each other. The final lines of the song "We're wide awake A new morning above But nothing sticks like love" portrays the hope and optimism they feel about the future of their relationship. Love is portrayed as the enduring factor that has allowed them to move forward.

We called a truce
We agreed to stop fighting and make peace
On a night so serene
On a peaceful and calm night
So this is the truth
This is what really happened
That love faced us with
The challenge love presented to us
We're wide awake
We are fully aware and conscious
Waiting for dawn
Waiting for a new beginning
And for us to carry on
And for us to continue with our lives
We finally spoke
We finally expressed ourselves
Of our hearts true desire
Of what we really wanted
And our voices were strong
And we spoke boldly
For the firs time in years
For the first time in a long time
A new morning above
A fresh start and a new day
But nothing sticks like love
But love is the most powerful and lasting force
