Here We Stand

Another day has passed us
With its lack of change
And all we have is what we share
And all we want is someone else to be there
And if the sun will set tonight
Hold our secrets up to the sky
And if you ever doubt
You will know that I still wonder
How many times did I compare
The stars to your eyes
We will make it through
No matter the cost
We've gone this far
Why not find out how it works out
For you and me
We'll make it through
I thought we were lost
But somehow we haven't found a way
And I hope that we never do
It's hard to get to understand
When all your lives in our hands
And don't stop when you've never been closer
Just 'cause you don't know what matters most
So it won't always be so clearly right in front of us
And if the sun will set tonight
Hold our secrets up to the sky
As our shadows grow there's nothing left to hide
And if you ever doubt
You will know that I still wonder
How many times did I compare
The stars to your eyes
We will make it through
No matter the cost
We've gone this far
Why not find out how it works out
For you and me
We'll make it through
I thought we were lost
But somehow we haven't found a way
And I hope that we never do
Never do
Doesn't really matter how it all began
Forsaken
Got this far without knowing who we truly are
I will never doubt that
We will make it through
No matter the cost
We've gone this far
Why not find out how it works out
For you and me
We'll make it through
I thought we were lost
But somehow we haven't found a way
And I hope that we never do
The lyrics to Amber Pacific's song "Here We Stand" convey a message of perseverance and hope in the face of uncertainty. The opening lines suggest a sense of repetition and perhaps boredom with the day-to-day routine, but the singer emphasizes the importance of the connections they share with others, and their desire for someone to be there for them. Throughout this section, the imagery of the sun setting reminds us of the transient nature of time, and the imperative to hold onto our secrets before they slip away.
The chorus is a rallying cry to carry on, despite the cost: "We will make it through/No matter the cost/We've gone this far/Why not find out how it works out/For you and me." The use of the personal pronouns "you and me" suggests a close personal relationship that the singer is fighting to maintain, although there is some doubt hinted at later in the song. The lyrics suggest that it's easy to get lost in the chaos of life, but that hope and determination will guide us through.
There is a focus on the concept of doubt in the second verse, as the singer wonders how many times they've compared the stars to their loved one's eyes, yet still has moments of uncertainty. They comfort themselves with the belief that they will find a way through, no matter how difficult the journey. The final lines of the song reference the idea of self-discovery; although the singer doesn't know who they truly are, they are confident that they will keep pushing forward and finding their way.

Here we stand again
We are in the same situation again
Another day has passed us
Another day has gone by
With its lack of change
Nothing significant has changed

And all we want is someone else to be there
We want someone to be with us
And if the sun will set tonight
If the day will end
Hold our secrets up to the sky
Let our secrets be revealed
As our shadows grow there's nothing left to hide
Our true selves will be exposed
And if you ever doubt
If you ever question
You will know that I still wonder
I still think about
How many times did I compare
How often did I liken
The stars to your eyes
Your eyes to the stars
We will make it through
We will overcome
No matter the cost
Regardless of the consequences
We've gone this far
We have come a long way
Why not find out how it works out
Why not see how it ends
For you and me
For us
I thought we were lost
I believed we were directionless

It's hard to get to understand
It's difficult to comprehend
When all your lives in our hands
When all our lives are in jeopardy
And don't stop when you've never been closer
Don't give up when you are almost there
Just 'cause you don't know what matters most
Just because you are unsure of what is essential
So it won't always be so clearly right in front of us
It won't always be evident
Doesn't really matter how it all began
It doesn't matter how it started
Forsaken
Abandoned or deserted
Got this far without knowing who we truly are
We have come this far without knowing our true identities
Never do
Never find a way
