Can't Let a Woman
Ambrosia Lyrics

(pack)

Where do you think you're goin'?
Dressin' like some evening tramp?
What do you think you're doin'?
Well, you got them talkin' behind my back

It must be something I can't relate
It's enough to drive a man from his mind
So get back home before it's too late
How could you up and just walk out of my life?

I can't let a woman like you get to my head
I can't let a woman like you get to my head

What do you think you're doin' ?
Well I told you not to leave anymore
Where do you think you're going?
Come on, get your fingers off of that door

It must be something I can't relate
It's enough to drive a man from his mind
So get back home before it's too late
How could you up and just walk out of my life?

I can't let a woman like you get to my head
I can't let a woman like you get to my head

I've waited all my life
For someone like you
Waited all my life
Is there something that I could do...

I can't let a woman like you get to my head
I can't let a woman like you get to my head

Goo, goo goo goo goo.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Ambrosia's song "Can't Let a Woman In" express the frustration and confusion of a man whose partner has left him. He addresses her in the first verse, asking where she thinks she's going and calling her out for dressing provocatively. He expresses his disbelief and the gossip that has started in the wake of her departure. The chorus reveals his fear of falling for a woman like her again and letting her "get to his head." In the second verse, he pleads with her not to leave again, urging her to come back inside and stay. He is still baffled by her departure, and the chorus repeats his reluctance to let her affect him emotionally. The song ends with a brief and nonsensical closing refrain.

The lyrics of this song are clearly about a man's struggle to keep his emotions under control, but they leave many questions unanswered. What exactly did the woman do to prompt his angry reaction? Why does he feel so strongly that he cannot let her "get to his head"? The repetition of the chorus seems to emphasize his repeated insistence on this point, as if he is trying to convince himself as much as anyone else.

Ambrosia is art! Perfection on so many levels. Exquisite, precise, heartful, pure. Simply...Nectar of the Gods! Crank it up! It's better LOUD!

No Brakes

Such a great intro and powerful song. Ambrosia could really rock out in their day, but were famous for their soft top 40 hits. Their first 2 albums are masterpieces.

Pure perfection! Ambrosia could do it all back in the day. Really talented guys. Ambrosia died when David left. Sorry, but it's so true! At least we have all the albums.

This song and "I wanna Know" are superb songs and really captivate the best Ambrosia sound and style-along with "Nice Nice Very Nice" their best early work.Alot of Ambrosia fans don't like anything after this album but I disagree their later stuff was also very good.
