So Far Away
Amici Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

There's a land
That gave me life
That made me free
That made me proud

And someday
I will return
Home to the land
Of the long white cloud

Where is home?
I hear you say
So far away
So far away

I hear your voice from afar
It haunts me wherever I stay
But I must follow a star
So far away
So far away

In the song
Upon the breeze
And in the roar
Of rolling waves

Like the roots
Of ancient trees
That run so deep
In the earth I crave

Where is home?
I hear you say
So far away
So far away

I hear your voice in my heart
I miss you much more than I can say
But I must follow a star
So far away
So far away

Where is home?
I hear you say

So far away
So far away

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Amici Forever's song "So Far Away" are a representation of a person who is longing for their homeland. The person sings of a land that gave them life, freedom and pride, but they now find themselves far away from it. They believe that someday, they will return to the land they call home, the land of the long white cloud, which refers to New Zealand. The song captures the feeling of homesickness and the desire to be reunited with one's roots.

The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "So far away" which emphasizes the physical distance the singer feels from their homeland. They hear the voice of someone they miss from afar, which haunts them wherever they stay, but they must follow their dreams, symbolized by "a star" they must follow, which takes them away from home.

The second verse compares the singer's longing to the roots of ancient trees, running deep in the earth. This line signifies that the singer's yearning for their homeland is deeply embedded within them. Despite the distance, they hear the voice of someone they miss in their heart, but they must continue on their path in pursuit of their dreams.

Ever since I was born I have known my soul was part of this beautiful and amazing planet. Humanity has been blessed with a home we should cherish and care for. Why anyone would want to deliberately damage it for profit is beyond comprehension. I cry every time I hear this beautiful song and I pray that one day humanity will wake up, stop the hate and destruction and finally become the people our Creator meant for us to be. Love & Peace.
