‘I Was Jesus In Your Veins’, recorded with Hatcham Social’s Toby Kidd at Studt’s Sleepwalker Studios, is the first taste of what to expect from the new album which is set for release this year.
Amy performed at a rare London show at the Young and Lost Club at The Nest in Dalston where she unveiled tracks from the new album for the first time with a full band line up.
Amy Studt began making music at a very earl age and was signed to Simon Fuller’s company at the age of fourteen and then to the Polydor label very soon after. She released her first single, ‘Just a Little Girl’, at the age of sixteen, which charted at number 14 in the UK pop charts and reachednumber 1 on US radio play. Her second single, ‘Misfit’, reached number 6 and this was soon followed by her album ‘False Smiles’ which went on to sell 260,000 copies. For a while Amy stayed out of the public eye, but returned in 2008 with the ‘My Paper Made Men’ album.
Her ongoing stage fright again caused her to withdraw from the limelight, but she continued to craft her strange and beautiful take on pop music at her own studio. Combining the drama of Bowie era ‘Aladdin Sane’, the vocal innovations of the Shangri-Las and Mazzy Star’s sultry moodiness, Amy Studt is set to deliver her most complete and accomplished set of songs to date.

Walking Out
Amy Studt Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You give me your reasons
I can tell by your voice that
you're not alone, alone
Is she out in the hallway
As you're taking your love away
Hearing every word I say
Try to fight, find reasons why
Time's run out
I'm walking out, I'm walking out
Time to find some peace of mind
I'm walking out
(I'm walking out, I'm walking out)
You come 'round to see me
You say that you've been missing me
I can tell by your face what
you came here for
You say that it's over,
and that you never knew her
but all this time you thought of me, yeah
Do I look blind
I think you'll find
that I deserve much more than this
No, time's run out
I'm walking out, I'm walking out
(I'm walking out, I'm walking out)
Time to find some peace of mind
I'm walking out
(I'm walking out, I'm walking out)
Time's run out
I'm walking out, I'm walking out
I'm walking out
Time to find some peace of mind
I'm walking out
(I'm walking out, I'm walking out)
Time's run out
I'm walking out, I'm walking out
(I'm walking out, I'm walking out)
Time to find some peace of mind
I'm walking out
(I'm walking out, I'm walking out)
The lyrics of Amy Studt's "Walking Out" speak about a relationship that has come to an end. The song starts with the singer acknowledging that her partner is leaving and giving reasons for it. The singer can tell by the tone of the partner's voice that someone else is with them, perhaps the person they are leaving the singer for. As the partner takes their love away, the singer tries to fight and come up with reasons why things can still work, but their words fall on deaf ears. Then comes the chorus, where the singer declares that time has run out and it's time to walk out and find peace of mind.
In the second verse, the partner comes to see the singer and says they've been missing her. The singer can tell by the partner's face that they have come for a particular reason. The partner says it's over and that they never knew the other person, but the singer can see right through their lies. In the end, the singer has made up her mind and decides to walk out, to find peace of mind.
Overall, "Walking Out" is a song about the end of a relationship, where lies and infidelity have taken their toll. The singer realizes that she deserves better and chooses to walk out.
