Walking Out
Amy Studt Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You say that you're leaving
You give me your reasons
I can tell by your voice that
you're not alone, alone
Is she out in the hallway
As you're taking your love away
Hearing every word I say
Try to fight, find reasons why
But you don't hear a word I say, no

Time's run out
I'm walking out, I'm walking out
Time to find some peace of mind
I'm walking out
(I'm walking out, I'm walking out)

You come 'round to see me
You say that you've been missing me
I can tell by your face what
you came here for
You say that it's over,
and that you never knew her
but all this time you thought of me, yeah

Do I look blind
I think you'll find
that I deserve much more than this
No, time's run out
I'm walking out, I'm walking out
(I'm walking out, I'm walking out)
Time to find some peace of mind
I'm walking out
(I'm walking out, I'm walking out)

Time's run out
I'm walking out, I'm walking out
I'm walking out
Time to find some peace of mind
I'm walking out
(I'm walking out, I'm walking out)

Time's run out
I'm walking out, I'm walking out
(I'm walking out, I'm walking out)
Time to find some peace of mind

I'm walking out
(I'm walking out, I'm walking out)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Amy Studt's "Walking Out" speak about a relationship that has come to an end. The song starts with the singer acknowledging that her partner is leaving and giving reasons for it. The singer can tell by the tone of the partner's voice that someone else is with them, perhaps the person they are leaving the singer for. As the partner takes their love away, the singer tries to fight and come up with reasons why things can still work, but their words fall on deaf ears. Then comes the chorus, where the singer declares that time has run out and it's time to walk out and find peace of mind.

In the second verse, the partner comes to see the singer and says they've been missing her. The singer can tell by the partner's face that they have come for a particular reason. The partner says it's over and that they never knew the other person, but the singer can see right through their lies. In the end, the singer has made up her mind and decides to walk out, to find peace of mind.

Overall, "Walking Out" is a song about the end of a relationship, where lies and infidelity have taken their toll. The singer realizes that she deserves better and chooses to walk out.
