Halftime
Amy Winehouse/Musicfire.in Lyrics

Humbled by the bass
So when the beat kicks in
Everything falls into place
And it overpowers me
I can't help but dance
You can try to stop me now
But you won't get the chance
Half time
Time to think it through
Consider the change
See it from a different view
Half time
Time to think it through
Consider the change
Rhythm floods my heart
The melody it feeds my soul
The tune tears me apart
And it swallows me whole
You should thank your lucky stars
'Cause the music is a gift
And it's stronger than all else
Provides me with uplift
Half time
Time to think it through
Consider the change
See it from a different view
Half time
Time to think it through
Consider the change
My lyrics revealing
Some natural vibe
Some kind of laid back feeling
Oh, just let it ride
And when Frank Sinatra sings
It's too much to take
So I sing the standard shit
It pacifies my ache
Half time
Time to think it through
Consider the change
See it from a different view
Half time
Time to think it through
Consider the change
In this song, Amy Winehouse beautifully explores the significance of music and its ability to uplift us from the mundane struggles of everyday life. The first few lines of the song describe the simple yet profound beauty of music – the guitar and bass coming together in perfect harmony, for the beat to kick in, and everything to fall into place. This leads to an overwhelming feeling of joy and happiness, one that makes it impossible to resist getting up and dancing. The lyrics make it clear that nothing can stop the power of music once it takes hold of you.
The chorus emphasizes the importance of taking a break from the daily grind to reflect, introspect, and contemplate change. Winehouse urges us to see life from a different perspective during halftime – a time to step back and consider what truly matters. The second verse speaks to the soulful connection that music elicits, with the rhythm flooding the heart and the melody feeding the soul. Winehouse hints that music is a blessing, one that can provide upliftment and solace during difficult times.
Towards the end, the song becomes more personal – with Winehouse revealing her own relationship to music. She talks about the natural vibe that she gets from the music and the laid-back feeling it evokes – one that she just wants to let ride. Winehouse mentions how even Frank Sinatra’s songs can be too much to bear, leading her to sing standard tracks instead - ones that can help pacify her ache. Through these personal anecdotes, she drives home the point that music is what we make of it – it can be whatever we want it to be.

Halftime came in my life like a hopeful surprise at a very restless patch in 2012, came back to listen to it again and vibe, and I find this. all I can say is that Amy would have loved this, I can totally see this being intentional from her if she were with us still, this was SUCH a well-done remake of her song
