A member of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra during her youth, Winehouse signed to Simon Fuller's 19 Management in 2002 and soon recorded a number of songs before signing a publishing deal with EMI. She also formed a working relationship with producer Salaam Remi through these record publishers. Winehouse's debut album, Frank, was released in 2003. Many of the album's songs were influenced by jazz and, apart from two covers, were co-written by Winehouse. Frank was a critical success in the UK and was nominated for the Mercury Prize. The song "Stronger Than Me" won her the Ivor Novello Award for Best Contemporary Song from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors.
Winehouse released her follow-up album, Back to Black, in 2006, which went on to become an international success and one of the best-selling albums in UK history. At the 2007 Brit Awards it was nominated for British Album of the Year, and she received the award for British Female Solo Artist. The song "Rehab" won her a second Ivor Novello Award. At the 50th Grammy Awards in 2008, she won five awards, tying the then record for the most wins by a female artist in a single night and becoming the first British woman to win five Grammys, including three of the General Field "Big Four" Grammy Awards: Best New Artist, Record of the Year and Song of the Year (for "Rehab"), as well as Best Pop Vocal Album.
Winehouse was plagued by drug and alcohol addiction. She died of alcohol poisoning on 23 July 2011, at the age of 27. After her death, Back to Black temporarily became the UK's best-selling album of the 21st century. VH1 ranked Winehouse 26th on their list of the 100 Greatest Women in Music.
Pumps

And you dressed like a star
Rockin' your F me pumps
And the men notice you
With your Gucci bag crew
Can't tell who he's lookin' to
'Cause you all look the same
And that's your whole claim to fame
Never miss a night
'Cause your dream in life
Is to be a footballer's wife
You don't like players
That's what you say-a
But you really wouldn't mind a millionaire
You don't like ballers
They don't do nothing for ya
But you'd love a rich man six foot two or taller
You're more than a fan
Lookin' for a man
But you end up with one-night-stands
He could be your whole life
If you got past one night
But that part never goes right
In the morning you're vexed
He's onto the next
And you didn't even get no text
Don't be too upset
If they call you a sket
'Cause like the news everyday you get pressed
You don't like players
That's what you say-a
But you really wouldn't mind a millionaire
Or them big ballers
Don't do nothing for ya
But you'd love a rich man six foot two or taller
You can't sit down right
'Cause your jeans are too tight
And you're lucky it's ladies night
With your big empty purse
Every week it gets worse
At least your breasts cost more than hers
So you did Miami
'Cause you got there for free
But somehow you missed the plane
You did too much E
Met somebody
And spent the night getting caned
Without girls like you
There'd be no fun
We'd go to the club and not see anyone
Without girls like you
There's no nightlife
All those men just go home to their wives
Don't be mad at me
'Cause you're pushing thirty
And your old tricks no longer work
You should have known from the jump
That you always get dumped
So dust off your fuck me pumps
The song "Fuck Me Pumps" by Amy Winehouse is a commentary on the gold-digging culture prevalent in clubs and bars, where women dress in revealing and trendy clothes, hoping to attract the attention of successful and wealthy men. The lyrics describe how the men in the club can't tell the difference between the women because they all look the same, and the women's identity is their whole claim to fame. Despite saying that they don't like players or ballers, they secretly desire a millionaire or a tall, rich man.
The singer of the song is more than just a fan looking for a man but ends up with one-night stands. She dreams of becoming a footballer's wife, but she can't seem to find a decent man to settle down with. The lyrics also touch on the issue of wearing tight jeans that affect one's ability to sit comfortably and the pressure of always keeping up with more significant and expensive purchases.
The last verse is a warning to women who continue to cling to the same old tricks as they push thirty. Wearing "fuck me pumps" might have gotten them attention in their twenties, but as they get older, they would have to think of something else. Amy Winehouse's "Fuck Me Pumps" sends a message to women, cautioning them not to settle for less, to focus on their goals and aspirations, and to break free from the gold-digging culture.

So dust off your fuck me pumps
Get ready to go out and try again
