Ana Popović's father first introduced her to the blues, through an extensive record collection and sessions hosted at the family home. Popović founded her first serious band at age nineteen. Within a year, she was playing outside of Yugoslavia and opening shows for American blues icons like Junior Wells. Her band Hush released their debut album, Hometown in 1998. The next year, Popović relocated to the Netherlands to study jazz guitar. She quickly became a fixture on the Dutch blues scene and soon ventured into neighboring Germany.

Doubt Everyone But Me
Ana Popovic Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Other kind of love
That you'll abandon
Your faith in me
And worthy your trust
I won't ever be
Baby doubt
Everyone but me
Some say I won't ever
Learn to know you good
Some say I can't even
Know the way you feel
Some say that I won't
Love you right
Oh baby Doubt
Everyone but me
Baby did it ever cross your mind
To doubt what they believe
Did it ever cross your mind
You're the one for me
Some say we were never
Really meant to be
And we'll become the prisoners
Before we make each other free
Some say we
Don't know how to love
Doubt everyone
Everyone but me
The song "Doubt Everyone But Me" by Ana Popovic is an anthem for anyone who has been doubted or judged unfairly by others, especially when it comes to love. The song is about the many people who have told the singer that she is incapable of loving or being loved, but how she refuses to let their doubts consume her. She sings that she knows what kind of love she wants, that she is worthy of trust, and that others should not doubt her ability to love.
The opening lyrics suggest that there are people who doubt the singer's desire for a certain kind of love, and that they believe she will abandon her faith in herself. However, she states that she will never falter and that others should have no reason to doubt her. The use of the word "baby" throughout the song injects a certain intimacy and vulnerability into the lyrics, making it clear that the singer is addressing someone she cares for deeply.
In the chorus, the singer asks if it has ever crossed their mind to doubt what others believe about their love. She emphasizes that the person she loves is the one for her, and that she is confident in their connection despite what others may say. The final verse suggests that there are those who believe the singer was never meant to be with the person she loves, and that their love is something that will hold them back. Yet, the singer remains steadfast in her convictions, refusing to doubt herself or the person she loves.
