Garden
Anderson / Wakeman Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I never promised you a rose garden
Along with the sunshine
There's gotta be a little rain some time
When you take you gotta give so live and let live
Or let go oh-whoa-whoa-whoa
I beg your pardon
I never promised you a rose garden
I could promise you things like big diamond rings
But you don't find roses growin' on stalks of clover
So you better think it over
Well if sweet-talkin' you could make it come true
I would give you the world right now on a silver platter
But what would it matter
So smile for a while and let's be jolly
Love shouldn't be so melancholy
Come along and share the good times while we can
I beg your pardon
I never promised you a rose garden
Along with the sunshine
There's gotta be a little rain some time
(Ah-ah-ah-ah)
I beg your pardon
I never promised you a rose garden
I could sing you a tune and promise you the moon
But if that's what it takes to hold you
I'd just as soon let you go
But there's one thing I want you to know
You better look before you leap, still waters run deep
And there won't always be someone there to pull you out
And you know what I'm talkin' about
So smile for a while and let's be jolly
Love shouldn't be so melancholy
Come along and share the good times while we can
I beg your pardon
I never promised you a rose garden
Along with the sunshine
There's gotta be a little rain some time
I beg your pardon
"Rose Garden" by Anderson Lynn is a song that tells the truth about relationships by trying to make us embrace the ups and downs of life. The song talks about not promising someone a perfect life without any issues or worries. The lyrics state, "I beg your pardon. I never promised you a rose garden." This line reinforces the idea that life is a blend of good and bad experiences, and it is essential to accept both aspects to lead a happy life. Along with the sunshine in life, there have to be some rainy and gloomy days that one should be willing to go through.
The song also emphasizes that love shouldn't be melancholy and that we should always cherish the good times that we have. Anderson encourages his listeners to embrace life hand in hand with their loved ones and enjoy moments of happiness while they last. The lyrics, "When you take you gotta give so live and let live, or let go," convey the message that relationships are about balance and give and take. It's essential to learn to adapt to situations and be willing to make compromises for a happier life.
Overall, "Rose Garden" teaches the listeners to take life as it is, deal with it one day at a time, and make the most of the happy moments while they last.

This music makes me smile. Jon's voice makes the day brighter and Rick's playing puts a sparkle in it. Thank You guys for the Joy. Rick should do Stand-up too. He's hilarious.

To the spìritual lyrics of Anderson, Wakeman is a fine compliment. In any case, I consider that Vangelis, with all his splendour, made an even better match. How wonderful it would be that both Jon and mr. Papathanassio made a new album. I fully understand they are no longer young lads...both are over 75 years of age now.

We are truly here for each other. We are each other's reflection, if we can see the light in each other, we can remember it in ourselves. There is no separation. In the planting of the seeds, the growing is in the knowing...trusting. Center. #LoveIsMusicMusicIsLove
