Never Will I Marry
Andrea Motis Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Never, never will I marry
Never, never will I wed
Born to wander solitary
Wide my world, narrow my bed
Never never never will I marry
Born to wander 'til I'm dead
No burden to bear
No conscience, no care
No memories to mourn
No turning, for I was
Born to wander solitary
Wide my world, narrow my bed
Never never never will I marry
Born to wander 'til I'm dead
No burden to end
No conscience, no care
No memories to mourn
No turning, for I was
Born to wander solitary
Wide my world, narrow my bed
Never never never will I marry

Born to wander 'til
I'm dead

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of the song "Never Will I Marry" by Andrea Motis are about the life of a wanderer. The first line of the song, "Never, never will I marry," sets the tone for the rest of the lyrics. The singer is not interested in settling down with anyone or getting married. She enjoys her freedom and the ability to wander wherever she chooses. The singer is content with her life and doesn't feel the need to have any attachments or responsibilities like marriage would entail.

The second verse emphasizes the solitary nature of the singer's life, with "Born to wander solitary, wide my world, narrow my bed." The singer values her independence and the freedom to go anywhere she wants without any obligations. She doesn't feel weighed down by a partner, family, or memories of past relationships. Instead, she welcomes the unknown and accepts the risks and rewards that come with it.

The chorus repeats the sentiment of the first verse, with the addition of the line "No burden to end." The singer has no plans to ever change her ways, and she sees her wanderlust as a lifelong trait. The song's message celebrates the beauty of the world and the exciting possibilities that it holds, and emphasizes the singer's desire to keep exploring it, regardless of what the future holds.

What a great Groove, what a great group of musicians ! This is almost like listening to a bebop group. Especially when hearing 4 bars of Dizzy Gillespie's "Night in Tunisia" in Andrea's trumpet solo :)

Andrea's trumpet technique has developed a lot since the last recordings I have heard. Or maybe the repertoire has not been challenging enough for her in the past?

I'm hoping to hear some recordings with more difficult, technical trumpet solos in the future. :)

Moltes gràcies !
