Back Again
Andrew Durant Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Andrew Durant's song "Back Again" centers around the confusion between the singer's name "Igor" and the Russian singer Igor Krutoy, who is admired by many in Russia. The song begins with the woman in America calling out the singer's name as "Igor Krutoy," again emphasizing the level of admiration that people in Russia have towards Krutoy. The lyrics then shift towards the singer's move to Odintsovo, a town in Russia, where his ex-girlfriend's daughter named Vika lives. The situation becomes comical as both the singer and Vika appreciate the same music and artist, Egor Kreed, but the singer struggles to explain that he isn't the Egor Kreed people talk about in the comments section of online music platforms. The confusion surrounding the singer's name becomes apparent as the song progresses, with the singer highlighting that his name is just Igor, not Igor Krutoy, and certainly not Egor Kreed.

The lyrics of the song showcase the level of obsession and admiration that people can have towards someone they perceive to be famous or significant. The singer feels uncomfortable as people mistake him for someone else, and the confusion makes him feel like he isn't seen for who he genuinely is. The song can also be interpreted as a commentary on how one's identity can be wrapped up in someone else's if there is a significant level of admiration or obsession towards that person.

Fantastic to find the whole concert being made available. Thanks for the upload. RIP to Andrew Durant from the Stars, Renee Geyer and recently Broderick Smith of the Dingoes. Boy the heavens must sound so so great……

@SunShiningDay11

Loved this concert. I used to play my tape of it so much in the 80's. Truly talented musicians, all of the performers involved. So sad to lose such a talented artist such as Andrew Durant who contributed in so many ways during his time with Stars.

@glennjelich3174

Thanks so much for posting the whole concert. What an awesome gig. Andy, Renee and Brod, I am sure are rockin it together once more.

This is a tremendous concert and my introduction to the band Stars!! Thank you so much for sharing!! Another great band from Australia. The music scene was amazing in late 70’s early 80’s. I wish I had a Time Machine. Between Cold Chisel, LRB, AC/DC, The Bee Gees and now Stars!! Damn, Australia was a music machine 🎸🤘

A great show case of a fantastic timeline Australian music paying respect to one of the country's great song/story teller.
Long live Andrews songs

In 1980, as a newly-minted 16 year old and avid Nightmoves watcher, I remember the telecast well. I bought LPs, VHS, cds and DVDs as they came available.

I doubt I've gone a month in those 43 years without revisiting some part (or all) of this concert.

I regularly go to see Stars (as recently as last night at the Memo in St Kilda and tomorrow at Molesworth) and, if nothing else, am glad that Andy's memory lives on in his fantastic body of work and in this supreme night of Australian music.

Thanks for posting this up for us all to enjoy.

I'm 44 this week and my earliest memories are of watching this wonderful concert on VHS. My mum was flatmates with Andy in the 70's, and my uncle is the backup vocalist in the red t-shirt! Thankyou for Posting.

Wow wow wow! Thanks Casey for sharing this monumental concert and thanks @kazz3956 for taking the time to list the tracks and time codes. Like many of you I’ve been enjoying this classic album for decades and to now link the video with the music makes this all the more special, especially the tracks that were omitted from the album. ❤

@kazz3956

Hi, I am late to the party (on one of my many revisits to this great concert), and I've only just read your comments. Sorry for my tardiness, but thank you for your kind words. It was my pleasure to time stamp them.

@mitchtrav56
