#2 Angry Panda are an unsigned alternative rock band from Bristol, UK. Formed in 2002, Angry Panda create music in a similar vein to At The Drive In, Mogwai and the Pixies.
Angry Panda have gigged regularly across the UK, and released their debut EP in September 2004 entitled "Too Weird To Live; Too Rare To Die". This EP received positive reviews from the Bristol press and enabled Angry Panda to build up a fanbase and play more prestigious venues, such as the Liverpool Cavern Club in Jan 2005.
Autumn 2006 saw Angry Panda release their 2nd EP, "Fifth Column Gospel". With improved production values and a new batch of songs, Angry Panda continue to mature into their hard-edged melodic sound, exploring themes of alienation in the modern era.
January 2008 - after a change of lineup which saw the departure of old school friend Luke Scoulding and the addition of Jack Everson onto percussion duties, Angry Panda released their most recent EP entitled "Welcome To The Fuck". Released internationally through Cdbaby.com and MP3 download sites, this EP reflects a new intensity, tightness and vitality within the band's music, as they crank up the volume and make a bold statement about the times into which the human race finds itself collectively wandering. The EP features post-production mixing from Matt Sampson of Bink Bonk Studios, Bristol, and is the band's most hi-fidelity release to date. "Welcome To The Fuck" is the opening salvo in a renewed battle against the mundane and the hollow. Monstrous drums, crushing guitars and manic, layered and schizophrenic vocals mark a watershed in the band's creative development.
The band continue to regularly play the Bristol gig scene, and are prepared to release their first full length release entitled "Cut Loose" in Summer 2009, with an accompanying short tour and regular gigs in London.
(As of this edit, Angry Panda is on an indefinite hiatus)

Rockets
Angry Panda Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Of the years as they go passing out
Now that time has shored, we take account of lessons ignored
Lives that are not yours, covered with doubt by the biased score
This is why I complain
Histories of blackened names
I won't be without my natural fear
Of the years as they go passing out
Now the nature of our kind is freely choosing to be blind
The politics I find are instruments of the sickened minds
But we know how to play your game
Listen as they scream our names
This species knows what to do
Their rockets they will come for you
Calling patriots and fifth columns
They fight wars while we write songs
In "Rockets" by Angry Panda, the lyrics express the singer's unwillingness to let go of their natural fear that comes with time passing by. They acknowledge that as time goes on, people tend to forget the lessons learned and instead choose to live in doubt and biased perspectives. The singer expresses frustration towards history being distorted, and people being judged and labeled unfairly.
The lyrics also touch upon the politics that dictate our society, and how it is often polluted with motives that serve the wrong purpose. The singer suggests that as a society, we have become complacent and ignorant, choosing to be blind to reality. However, the last few lines of the song suggest that there is still hope. The singer expresses confidence in the human race, stating that they know how to fight back against the sickened minds of the political game players. This is represented in the lines, "this species knows what to do, their rockets they will come for you, calling patriots and fifth columns they fight wars while we write songs."
Overall, the lyrics in "Rockets" express the singer's frustration towards the current state of society, and the hope that the human race will rise above it and make a change.
