The band members met in school and started recording together in various forms of collaboration from a young age. Slide on down the wooden staircase
Good lovin' outside
Let's find a good place
And take off your clothing
I stopped wearing a watch
But I've kissed your face
And things really get going
Things really get going
We can watch the things we eat
But I need your come and escape with me
And we can loath in moss all night
You're kind and sweet and I feel your inside
And I'll kiss you in the kitchen when there's lovin' outside
I'll touch you and you'll touch me
The rain won't scare us cause we're lovin' outside
I'm wearing your shirt
So act like a kid
And pretend to hit me
'Cause we act in the funniest ways
But it's just like it should be
With good love on the outside
The lyrics to Animal Collective's "Good Lovin' Outside" are a poetic representation of an intimate moment shared between two people. The song begins with a description of a secret place the two individuals can go to enjoy each other's company away from the rest of the world. The wooden staircase mentioned in the lyrics adds a touch of rustic charm to the romantic setting. The chorus of the song encourages the lovers to find a spot where they can take off their clothes and indulge in some outdoor lovemaking. Though the act is daring, it is clear that both parties are comfortable with each other, as they have already shared a couple of kisses.
The second verse indicates that though the two lovers are mindful of what they eat, the only thing on their minds at that moment is their passion for each other. They plan to escape into each other's arms and find solace in nature, especially the moss, for the night. The singer continues to express their love for their partner, highlighting their kindness and sweetness. The refrain "lovin' outside" is repeated in the verses, emphasizing the setting of this song.
Overall, "Good Lovin' Outside" speaks to the beauty and excitement of letting go and indulging in an adventurous and spontaneous relationship. It's a passionate love song that celebrates the primal urge for intimacy with another person.
