In 2008 I adopted 2 cats whom I named Phillips and Ebenezer. The former was a tabby, the latter a black cat.
Phillips was my soulmate, my shadow. He’d follow me everywhere I went, sleep with me, wrap his body around my neck like a shaw, clean my hair; just so many weird, funny, bizarre and loving stuff. Well he passed away June 9th, 2020 from Lymphoma. We spent so much money giving him another year of life. But when I learned I couldn’t keep death at bay anymore I called a vet hospice. Before she put him down I prayed over him, asking god to love and care for him. I ran out of the room Bc I couldn’t watch. He was cremated. Put in a nice urn.
Several months later I experienced 3 visitations
1. There’s a spare room I use to store rare books—my archive room. The door always stays closed and locked. Well one afternoon I walked in, checked the temperature and dehumidifier, and saw a cat’s claw. Now I’m extremely OCD about my archive room. My 2 cats never entered that room. How did the claw get inside? Side note: I take off both shoes and socks before entering.
2. One evening I was eating dinner, not thinking about Phillips (I swear). When I looked up at the tv I saw, briefly, a grey four legged thing (small. Size of an animal) rush down the hall. I thought it was Ebenezer, but Ebenezer was sitting in the den—opposite direction. I’m not fooled easily, but at first I literally Believed it was Ebenezer.
3. One night at 3:15am I couldn’t sleep. Missed Phil too much. So I silenced my mind and prayed, asking Phil to please come bc I missed him. For a guy who rarely cries, I loved my buddy so much ….you get it. Soon I heard a soft voice whisper “shoot a picture at the stairs with your phone.” I obeyed. When I looked at the picture I saw a faint outline of a cats face, an eye…:it was Phillips!! Phillips told me “I miss you too. Im doing great. I want you to be happy. Be in the moment everyday like I was. Happiness is the sun, stillness, that yummy drippy water from the faucet and all the ice cream left over when you almost eat it all. You’ll see me one day but I can’t always come back bc it’s against the rules. Maybe sometime I’ll return. But I love you. Good to me.” (My version of his message)
Since then I’ve never seen or received another sign from Phil :( Hopefully one day he’ll pop in to say hi

When our dog Lucy died I was crying as I went on my first walk without her.. I passed the bush were she used to chase the birds. When I passed it three birds flew out, I looked up and there was a rainbow through those dark clouds. She was telling me she crossed the rainbow bridge safely I truly believe that 💗🐶

I believe she was telling you that too. I understand your grief. 6 months later and I still catch myself trying to deal with it. When my chocolate lab passed, it had been grey and gloomy all week....I was crying so hard, and then the sun came out. I think that was his way to say he was okay. I hope that there will be a way to see him again.

Nice fairy tale. If yiu find that comforting, that's fine. I've lost pets before and I've cried when I nodded to the vet to release the drug to out them to sleep. But in reality I know they are gone.
