Euphoria
Anne-Marie Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Laying on my bed under starship lights
After three AM on a Thursday night
Hoping they won't catch us smoking cigarettes
As we breathe 'em out like it's our last breath
Sneak away tonight, steal your parents' wine
Drive to Sunset Cliffs, it will all be fine
Run your hands through my hair in the back of your car
We're so unaware we would fall so hard, hard

Find me, find me when the night has gone
I'll be, I'll be who you leaning on
Find me, find me when the night has gone
I'll be, I'll be who you leaning on

Euphoria, I feel it in my blood
Euphoria, and I can't get enough
Euphoria, it never stops when I'm with you, you, you
You're my euphoria

Found a secret place we could get away
In pink rocket ships, fly to outer space
You don't have to come with me but there's nothing to lose
Backpack full of Jack, bring your tennis shoes

Do you remember that time you stayed here to clean
Up my apartment when I was just seventeen
After the cops showed up to shut the party down
And we watched cartoons, I'm glad you stayed up

Find me, find me when the night has gone
I'll be, I'll be who you leaning on
Find me, find me when the night has gone
I'll be, I'll be who you leaning on

Euphoria, I feel it in my blood
Euphoria, and I can't get enough (euphoria)
Euphoria, it never stops when I'm with you, you, you (euphoria, it never stops)
You're my euphoria

Euphoria, I feel it in my blood (oh, euphoria)
Euphoria, and I can't get enough (euphoria)

Euphoria, it never stops when I'm with you, you, you (with you, with you, with you)
You're my euphoria

Overall Meaning

In the lyrics of Anne-Marie's song "Euphoria," the artist reflects on youthful experiences and the intense emotions that come with them. The setting of the song is late at night, with the singer and a companion engaging in rebellious behavior such as smoking cigarettes and sneaking away to a secluded spot. The imagery of starship lights and a drive to Sunset Cliffs creates a sense of adventure and freedom, heightened by the feeling that time and consequences are momentarily suspended. The act of stealing parents' wine and running hands through hair in the back of a car symbolizes a sense of recklessness and infatuation, with the realization that they are falling deeply for each other.

The repeated refrain of "Find me, find me when the night has gone, I'll be, I'll be who you're leaning on" suggests a deep bond and reliance between the singer and their companion. The singer equates their connection to a feeling of euphoria, something that flows through their veins and becomes addictive. This intense emotion is tied to the presence of the other person, indicating that their relationship serves as a source of joy and escape from reality. The singer sees the other person as their euphoria, a source of exhilaration and bliss that heightens every moment spent together.

As the lyrics progress, the singer reminisces about past experiences shared with their companion, including a moment of vulnerability when the companion stayed to help clean up the singer's apartment after a party got shut down by the police. This act of kindness and loyalty further cements the bond between them, highlighting the depth of their connection beyond just the thrill of rebellion and escapades. The imagery of pink rocket ships and outer space represents the idea of transcending reality and exploring new possibilities together, symbolizing a sense of endless adventure and shared dreams.

Overall, the lyrics of "Euphoria" by Anne-Marie capture the intoxicating rush of young love and the thrill of escaping reality with a kindred spirit. The song conveys a sense of euphoria that comes from being with someone who understands and supports you, bringing a sense of joy and exhilaration that seems to never end. Sam Gall Movie Reviews

Being a fan of the previous generation’s work, Judd Apatow, I was well aware of a new show that his daughter, Maude Apatow, was going to have a small role in a show called “Euphoria”. Zendaya was also fresh in my mind from having seen her in Tom Holland’s “Spider-Man: Homecoming” (2017), but had most recently been following new actress Alexa Demie from her amazing work in two films I’ve already added to the Gem Mint 10.0 series; “Mid90s” (2018) and “Brigsby Bear” (2017) and was very excited to see the new show she was promoting.

From the god d*** first frame it blew me away! It was the first slice of work I’d seen by the great Barry Levinson’s son, Sam Levinson, whose created his own visual aesthetic in cinema that has yet to be matched. He truly is a visionary and making the most dramatic the most cinematic in ways that not only look incredible but help tell the story and get inside the minds of characters in ways maybe cinema wasn’t doing as much before.

Hunter Schafer, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, Barbie Ferreira, Angus Cloud, Algee Smith and Storm Reid were all massive favorites, but were all new faces for me! Sydney Sweeney has gone on to star in a few things I saw after discovering “Euphoria” like Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood” (2019).

I love how unafraid of being honest this show is. I’ve never felt something so raw before, especially on a mainstream level like HBO is and the way this show has blown up. It’s the hard truth about what some people are actually or have gone through, I think as difficult as a pill as it may be to swallow at times, it could be the most important show of our time.

This is the world we live in now and I don’t think anything’s been more up front and honest about it than “Euphoria” (2019) has.

After obsessing over the entire first season, I devoured the rest of the cast and crews work as best I could before we had our, 2 episode long, 1.5 season that teases the lead up to the upcoming Season 2, which I cannot wait for. Since the last episode of Season 1 premiered, seeing more of Sam Levinson’s work was an absolute must! From “Assassination Nation” (2018) to “Malcolm & Marie” (2021), he’s grown to be one of my most favorite filmmakers of all time!

This whole cast, Sam Levinson and the team behind the camera, have come up with something so beautiful, poetic, honest and real that will stick in my head and heart for years to come! Massive props to original artist Labrinth for creating some of the most outstanding music I’ve ever heard! One of the most memorable aspects of this already groundbreaking show! Cannot wait for Season 2!

"Former Disney Channel star Zendaya made history on Sunday, becoming the youngest woman to win best actress in a drama series at the Emmys.

The 24-year-old picked up the coveted prize for her portrayal of teenage drug addict Rue in HBO's Euphoria.

That was no mean feat given her heavyweight competition.

Zendaya saw off Killing Eve's Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh, Ozark's Laura Linney, The Crown's Olivia Colman and The Morning Show's Jennifer Aniston.

"I know this feels like a really weird time to be celebrating," she said at the virtual ceremony, surrounded by her family.

"But I just want to say there is hope in the young people out there - I know that our TV show doesn't always feel like a great example of that - but there is hope in our young people and I just want to say to all my peers out there doing the work in the streets, 'I see you, I admire you, I thank you.'"

this show is DEEP. it did everything thirteen reasons why did and then SO much more. this show is one of those shows that doesn’t hold back and isn’t afraid to be brutally honest.

Tryn

All they did was make every character a crass horn dog willing to do anything with anyone. How is that deep? Skins was so much better.
