forget about the small (okay, okay, okay)
we can get it all (I know, I know, I know)
you know what we could be (tell me, tell me, tell me)
so join the enemy (I will, I will, I will )

At first glance, the lyrics to "The Wedding" by Annie seem to be a simple proposal song, with its repeated refrain of "will you marry me" and "I do" responses. However, upon closer inspection, the song appears to be a commentary on the dangers of materialism and conformism in modern society. The lines "forget about the small, we can get it all" and "so join the enemy" suggest a desire to pursue wealth and status at any cost, even if it means betraying one's own values and identity.
Annie also highlights the allure of these temptations, with lines like "just for those who dare" and "rich beyond compare" implying that the rewards of conformity can be great. However, by repeating the phrase "I know, I know, I know," she seems to be expressing uncertainty and doubt about whether this path is truly the right one.
Ultimately, the repeated proposal question and response serve as a metaphor for the decision to commit to a certain way of life. The song seems to be encouraging listeners to be mindful of this decision, and to choose a path that is true to themselves, rather than simply following the crowd.
