Away
Annulation Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

The world in a time
No anwser of sensibility
Cross the soul of death
Burning time is here

The world in a painfull time
The sky is turning grey
The sun is going black
The moon is going burn

Why don't hear it?
Why don't feel it?
Why don't see it?
Why don't change it?

Why don't here it?
Why don't feel it?
Why don't see it?
Why don't change it?

Enemy, enemy, enemy....

Burn the enemys

Kill the enemys
Damed!!!!

Overall Meaning

The song "Away" by Annulation is a powerful expression of the pain and despair that can arise in times of crisis and conflict. The lyrics paint a bleak picture of a world in turmoil, where sensibility and reason seem to be in short supply. It feels like a time where death is constantly looming, and everything around us is burning, from the earth itself to the very sky above.

In the face of such darkness, the singer poses a series of questions, asking why we as a society can't seem to hear, feel, see, or change what's going on around us. It's as if the world has collectively turned a blind eye to the suffering and the chaos that surrounds us, and the singer is pleading for us all to open our eyes and take action.

The final lines of the song are a fierce rejection of the powers that be, urging us to burn and kill our enemies, no matter the cost. It's a desperate cry from someone who feels like they have nothing left to lose, and who is willing to do whatever it takes to survive and fight back against the darkness.

Overall, "Away" is a haunting and powerful song that reflects the feelings of many in times of crisis, and serves as a rallying cry to take action and fight against the injustices of the world.

This was an incredible explanation; thank you so much for taking the time to make it, and then for putting it up on YouTube. I studied the Michael addition and the Robinson annulation before, but I've certainly forgot some of the finer points, like the effect of basicity on the type of reaction. For a lot of reasons, I had a great time watching your video!

Famhe

15:33 The minor product is the one shown, the major product would be deprotonation of the alpha-carbon to the right of the ketone on the top left, as this would result in the most highly substituted and therefore stable double bond.

samter

@Zachary ElFallah I think Famhe is referencing the formation of the final alpha-beta unsaturated ketone, and I think his reasoning is correct. I'm not sure how much steric factors would come into play (i.e. the strain produced by having the double bond in the side where the two rings are fused vs. having it between an alpha carbon and a carbon shared by both rings) but I think the argument about substitution is valid.

Zachary ElFallah

I don't think because that would form a 4 member ring which is less stable than a 6 member ring.

Your videos always help so much!!! Thank youu 🙏❤️

Great explanation, thanks!

THANK YOUUU! I finally understand it

what is different between intramolecular aldol and robinson annulation? this reaction reversibel or irreversibel?

Ana Basurto Bustos

Could the last OH- have taken the alpha H next to the other carbonyl group, and formed a double bond between the two rings instead?
