The famous "Anorak City" flexi was a scratchy scene anthem celebrating the siren allure of indie-trainspotterdom. "You Should All Be Murdered" was indie pop's somewhat Smiths-esque answer to Harry Secombe's "If I Ruled The World". And then came perhaps the most "Sarah in a nutshell" single of them all, a heady collision of obsessive-romanticism, gorgeous twelve-string shimmer and just the right redemptive twinkle of knowing irony: "I'm In Love With A Girl Who Doesn't Know I Exist". "So I'll just lie and dream of the chances I've missed..."
All these singles are collected onto the London Weekend compilation. Harvey later went on to record several albums under his own name.

but I never knew love could make you feel this sore
I could speak to you
you could speak to me
oh but it will never happen
what will be will be
so I'll just lie and dream of the chance I have missed
I'm in love with a girl who doesn't know I exist
The song "I'm in Love With a Girl Who Doesn't Know I Exist" by Another Sunny Day captures the feeling of unrequited love perfectly. The lyrics are a reflection of the frustration and sadness that comes with loving someone who doesn't even acknowledge your existence. The opening lines "so many this has happened before, but I never knew love could make you feel this sore" sets the tone for the song, and expresses the feelings of hurt and disappointment that comes with unrequited love.
The singer of the song acknowledges that he could speak to the girl he loves, and she could speak back, but he knows that "it will never happen, what will be will be". This line is significant because it shows a sense of acceptance and resignation from the singer, who has come to terms with the fact that this love is not meant to be. But despite this, he admits to "lying and dreaming" of the missed chance and the love that could have been.
Overall, "I'm in Love With a Girl Who Doesn't Know I Exist" is a poignant and relatable exploration of the pain of unrequited love, and a reminder that sometimes, despite our best efforts, love is simply out of our control.
