I don't know where the whole speedboat thing came from, I think all lyric websites just copied each other;
“Last year in the dance you had a ball
Called me mealybug and sketel
Get back fluffy, Mash fluffy
Get back you flea-infested mongrel”
With mealybug being an annoying insect and sketel slang for a woman you wouldn’t bring home to your parents.

Holy shit, I used to have a friend who swore up and down that his soccer team used to use this song in practice back in 1998 and I always told him that was impossible because the song didn't come out until 2000....this must have been the version he was talking about, he'd always thought it was the Baha Men. Mind blown.
@PrettyPurpleful
TRJ2241987 I think your friend was talking about the rap version by chuck Smooth.
@halfpintmya
or the actual original by Anslem Douglas which came out in...that's right you guessed it...1998.
@t_man7259
halfpintmya but he was their manager and figured they were the right ones to give it a propper release
@omargill3443
By the time we heard the Baha Men version this was an old song in the Caribbean.
@ryanmitchell2844
We were using this as a battle cry in basic training for the Army in 1999.

Respect to the Baha Men, Anselm Douglas' song is EVERYTHING! Loving it in 2023! ❤❤❤
@midnitegremlin1345
Can't believe this is 14 years before the Baha Men's 2000 version! (Dog years)
