The tour proved successful, but things start spiraling downward after that. The recording sessions for the album were hampered by issues out of the band’s control, the result being a product with which no one was happy. Right as the album came out hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, and all hell broke loose. AVW was scattered. Eventually everyone made their way back home, but difficulties persisted, and the band never really recovered. Jim, Karla, Kevin, and Billy went on to play in Dead On, a side-project that Jim and Kevin had come up with in 2004 during The Picts downtime, and Cos and Billy started on a project called the Satanic Mechanics, but both groups continued to have problems. AVW become just one more wreckage left in the wake of Katrina.
