Consequences
Area 7 Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Living for the thrill
Just to satisfy yourself
Looking for a kill
When you f**k me over
I never say a word
Am I the voice of reason?
'Cos I am never heard
Nothing lasts forever,
Nothing's ever for free
Soon the flame will burn out, and you'll
See what you could have been
Now and then I see
You're not standing tall
I see your face and I know you
anticipate the fall
Running scared from your life
Running out of time
Face the consequences now
Is it all in your mind?
Living in the moment
Living for the thrill
Just to satisfy yourself
Looking for a kill
Running scared from your life
Running out of time
Face the consequences now
Is it all in your mind?
The lyrics to Area 7's song "Consequences" describe a person who lives in the moment, not considering the impact of their actions. This person is driven by the thrill of the moment and looking out for their own satisfaction. They often hurt others without taking responsibility or apologizing. The writer of the song feels frustrated because they are overlooked when it comes to being the voice of reason. They see that this person's lifestyle is not sustainable and that it will eventually lead to consequences.
The writer advises this person to face the consequences now instead of running away from them. They imply that it is not just the physical aftermath that this person has to face, but also the mental aftermath. The writer is aware that this person is anticipating a fall and is afraid of facing their actions. However, the writer is firm in their conviction that it is time for this person to take responsibility.
Overall, the lyrics to "Consequences" are a commentary on the consequences of living life without any consideration for others. The writer expresses frustration at the lack of accountability, while also acknowledging that the fear of consequences can be overwhelming.
