Arleta was born in Athens in 1945. She studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts.
She published her first album of her own creation (Ένα Καπέλο με Τραγούδια, A hat with songs) in 1960. In the beginning of her career she worked with many well-known Greek composers like Giannis Spanos, Manos Hatzidakis and Mikis Theodorakis. Her first great successes came with songs whose music was written by Lakis Papadopoulos and lyrics by Marianina Kriezi. She performed with great success in the Athens boîte scene. In 1997 her book, Από πού πάνε για την Άνοιξη (Whereto does one go to get to Spring) was released, a book that includes her own illustrations.
On February 11, 2008, just a few minutes before a planned performance at Volos, Arleta suffered a stroke. She underwent surgery, remaining in a critical but stable condition, from which she managed to recover, having remained though in hospital for 6 months and partly paralysed, unable to stand, for one year.
In January 2017, she suffered another stroke and remained in hospital, where she passed away on 8 August 2017, aged 72.

In "Mia fora thymamai," Arleta sings of a rainy night where she is searching for someone who she loves and remembers fondly. The verses are structured around the repetition of the phrase "Mia fora thymamai," which translates to "I remember one time." The lyrics evoke a sense of longing and nostalgia for a past love, as Arleta reflects on the way things used to be when they were together.
The first verse describes the emptiness and uncertainty that comes with searching for someone who may no longer be there. Arleta's hand is empty, and she doesn't know where to find the person she's looking for. The repetition of "Pou tha se vrei" ("where to find you") emphasizes her confusion and frustration.
The second verse contrasts the past happiness of the relationship with the present sadness and silence. Arleta remembers a time when they were in love and talking to each other, but now there is only rain and silence. The juxtaposition of past and present adds to the poignancy of the song.
The chorus expresses the pain and longing that Arleta feels in the wake of the relationship's end. The line "Petrose i foni kai pos na klapsei" ("My voice has turned to stone and how can it cry?") underscores the depth of her grief, while the line "Chili kaimoi" ("A thousand pains") conveys the breadth of her suffering.
Overall, "Mia fora thymamai" is a mournful reflection on lost love and the memories that linger in its wake.

"La Tenerezza".
