Debut single 'When The Night Is Cold' was released in 1988. This song was not to be on debut album 'Disco Extravaganza' released in 1990 (re-named 'Army of Lovers when released in USA & UK in 1991). This was followed by the album 'Massive Luxury Overdose' (1991). La Camilla left the band and released a single 'I Am Not In The Mood For Lovers'. The Group replaced La Camilla with Michaela De La Cour, they re-released 'Massive Luxury Overdose' with extra tracks & with De La Cour on the new album artwork.

Candyman messiah
Standing at the end of the rainbow
Expected a pot of gold
What's the use in money that's borrowed
Facing a blues i was never told
Cashing out i'll hit rock bottom
Candyman messiah
Candyman messiah
Candyman messiah
Candyman messiah
A lullaby on clouds of cotton
Like an aircraft a power station
I've got a payback on my investment
Gonna rule the united nations
Cashing out on the last component
Got my string in good vibration
Candyman messiah
Candyman messiah
Candyman messiah
Candyman messiah
Passion devotion
People in motion
Workers of the world unite
Candyman messiah

People in motion
The song "Candyman Messiah" by Army of Lovers is a satirical take on the commercialization of religion and the idolization of material wealth. The lyrics describe a protagonist who is searching for a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow but is confronted with the reality that money is ultimately meaningless. The singer then turns to a "candyman messiah" figure who promises to rule the world and bring about a utopia, all while being marketed like a product. The singer is seduced by this figure and ultimately joins the "people in motion" who are following the candyman messiah.
The song explores the idea of how religion and politics have been merged with consumerism, creating a society where people are seduced by the images and promises of leaders who are marketed like products. The candyman messiah figure represents the allure of power, wealth, and fame that can be achieved through marketing oneself in a certain way. However, the song also critiques this idea by showing that this kind of utopian promise is ultimately empty and meaningless. In the end, the singer joins the "people in motion" who are searching for something deeper and more meaningful than just material wealth and power.
