Arnob Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Aamar shonar moyna paakhi
Kon deshete gela uuira-re
Diya more phanki
Amar shonar moyna paakhi
Shona boron pakhire amar
Kajol boron ankhi
Diba-nishi mon chayre
Baindha tore rakhi
Amar shonar moyna paakhi

Deho dichi pranore dichi
Aar nai kichu banki
Shoto phooler bhushon diyare
Onge dichi makhi
Amar shonar moyna paakhi

Jaiba jodi nithur pakhi
Bhashaiya more ankhi
E jibon jabar kaal-ere

Ekbar jeno mdekhi-re
Amar shonar moyna paakhi

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Arnob's song "Monpura Theme" depict a deep longing for a loved one who has flown away like a golden cuckoo bird (shonar moyna paakhi). The singer laments the separation and expresses a desire to have their beloved back in their life. The metaphorical language used in the lyrics evokes a sense of melancholy and yearning.

The song starts with the singer asking which country their golden cuckoo bird has flown to, as they light a lamp and prepare a swing for the bird. The lyrics convey a sense of devotion and dedication to the beloved, symbolized by the golden feathers and the kohl-lined eyes. The singer declares that they have given their body and soul to the beloved, leaving nothing else behind. They adorn the bird with a hundred flowers, attracting bees, and hope that the bird will return to their life.

The second stanza reveals a hint of bitterness and resignation if the beloved flies to a distant, heartless place. The singer beseeches their eyes not to shed tears, as they wish to see their beloved before the end of their life. They hope for a glimpse of the golden cuckoo bird one more time, a moment that would make their life complete.

Overall, the lyrics depict a deep longing for a lost love and a fervent desire for reunion. The use of the golden cuckoo bird as a metaphor adds a poetic and evocative touch to the emotions expressed in the song.

I Was in Bangkok last week and went to Art and Culture Centre.
From 4th floor i started hearing this Song and it was pulling me.
This song was playing part of one installation. :)

Am from Kerala, so couldnt understand the language first but i kind of got a similarity to Bengali.
So i recorded it and send it to my sister, and she said its a Bangla Folk Song.

Reached back to India and here am listening this song in loop. :)
