The brothers are regularly taught by the Portuguese pianist Maria João Pires. She played with pianists like Lang Lang and Ricardo Castro. On November 24, 2006 they played at the age of ten and thirteen with the Radio Kamer Filharmonie (a Dutch symphony orchestra led by Jaap van Zweden) Mozart's Concerto for two pianos KV 365.
In March 2010 the brothers signed a contract with the prestige record label Deutsche Grammophon.
They were in popular Dutch radio- and television shows and received a gold music prize (10.000+ albums, ref. NVPI) at 'De Wereld Draait Door', even before their album officially was released.

He's been in love, been to war
worked the same job all his life
Now the job's gone, and his wife
Sets the table still for two
Reads the papers to see what's new
Takes a walk when the sun goes down
Kids call his name, he pays no mind, he goes...
Hmmm... Hmmm... Hmmm... Hmmm... Hmmm...
See young woman with a pretty smile
But no one's seen it in a long long while
Works two jobs, not much time
Hair is a mess, watchin' every dime
Just her and the kids, the old man's gone
It ain't easy to go it alone
Too sad to laugh, too spent to cry
The kids tucked in, she sings them lullaby, she goes...
Hmmm... Hmmm... Hmmm... Hmmm... Hmmm...
See young black kid down in South LA
Rosie, she's down the Barrio way
Crazy in love, as can be
Dreaming the future and a family
Hear neighbors talk, parents frown
She's not from the hood and he's not brown
Seen young love conquer all
The kids break down yet another wall
I see young soldier coming home
Purple heart, but the legs are gone
Army wife, knock on a door
Her man ain't comin' back no more
What will it take till we learn
War is not the answer, my friend
Why's the world looking so grim
And the answer... the answer is blowin' in the wind...
Hmmm... Hmmm... Hmmm... Hmmm... Hmmm...
The lyrics of "Rhapsody in Blue" by Arthur & Lucas Jussen paint a vivid picture of different individuals facing various challenges in life. The opening verse introduces us to an elderly man who has experienced love and war, and has spent his entire life working the same job. However, as his job and wife are no longer present in his life, he finds solace in the routine of setting the table for two and keeping up with current events through the newspapers. Yet, when his name is called by his children, he seems disconnected and oblivious to their presence.
The second verse introduces us to a young woman burdened with the responsibilities of working two jobs and raising her children on her own. She no longer has time for herself, and her appearance reflects her exhaustion. Despite the challenges, she finds strength to carry on, putting her kids to bed and singing them a lullaby. The repeated humming in the lyrics reflects her weariness and longing for some respite.
The third verse introduces a young black kid from South LA named Rosie who is deeply in love and dreams of a future with her partner. Their love crosses boundaries and defies societal expectations, as neighbors gossip and parents disapprove. However, their love triumphs, breaking down yet another barrier. This verse highlights the power of love and how it can overcome societal prejudices.
The final verse shifts the focus to a soldier returning home from war, scarred both physically and mentally. The mention of a purple heart indicates that the soldier has been recognized for bravery but has lost his legs in the process. The perspective then shifts to the soldier's spouse, described as an "Army wife," who receives the devastating news that her husband will never return. The lyrics question the futility of war and propose that it is not the answer to the world's problems. In this context, the repetitive humming suggests contemplation, reflection, and perhaps a sense of helplessness in the face of the world's grim state.
Overall, "Rhapsody in Blue" offers a snapshot of different lives affected by love, loss, struggle, and the longing for a better world. It highlights the resilience of individuals facing adversity and calls for a deeper understanding of the human condition, urging us to seek alternative paths to peace and happiness.
