His vocal - sounding very much like the legendary Janis Joplin - is unmatched; and he sings primarily in English. "A genius... A new Messiah" (Rolling Stone Mexico) and "The most interesting voice in the Israeli music scene" are some of the accolades he has received.
Born in Jerusalem, Israel, to diplomats for the Israeli Foreign Office, Avidan spent four years of his childhood in Jamaica and also grew up in New York. In 2006, after breaking up with his long-time girlfriend, he moved back to Jerusalem desiring to pursue a music career. From 2006–2011 he featured in Asaf Avidan & the Mojos.
In 2012, Avidan released the single "Different Pulses", followed by the premiere of his debut solo studio album of the same name. The singer's follow-up record Gold Shadow (2015) was similarly successful in Europe, reaching Gold status in France. The Study on Falling followed in 2017.
Little Parcels Of An Endless Time

Are spinning down towards
The gyre and a sinuous truth unvoiced
Is stretching up forever higher
Leaves of places, leaves of friends
Are blowing in the wind and falling
But my ship carves through the rain
To the place that I am going
Trepidation
You gotta be mistaken
It was an endless time ago
You gotta, gotta let it go
Trepidation
You gotta be mistaken
It was an endless time ago
You gotta, gotta let it go
Tiny particles of light
Have travelled in a wave to find me
A hundred million light-years past
But still they seem to find a way to blind me
Storms of old, I never told
Last year they were all the rages
All the sciences of motion
Cannot calculate my changes
Trepidation
You gotta be mistaken
It was an endless time ago
You gotta, gotta let it go
Trepidation
You gotta be mistaken
It was an endless time ago
You gotta, gotta let it go
Trepidation
You gotta be mistaken
It was an endless time ago
You gotta, gotta let it go
Trepidation
You gotta be mistaken
It was an endless time ago
You gotta, gotta let it go
The lyrics to Asaf Avidan's song "Little Parcels of an Endless Time" convey a sense of nostalgia and longing for a time that has passed. The "little parcels of the past" are memories and experiences that are slowly drifting away, symbolized by leaves blowing in the wind. The reference to a "gyre" suggests a spiral or vortex, hinting at the inevitability of time passing and how it can pull us in and change us.
The second stanza introduces the idea of light particles traveling through space to find the singer, yet still blinding him. This could be interpreted as a metaphor for how memories and experiences can still affect us in the present, even if they happened long ago. The final stanza touches on the idea that change cannot always be calculated or predicted, and the singer seems to be struggling with that idea, expressing trepidation and a need to "let it go."

can't explain my utter happiness at finding this amazing poetry in song form by accident! I was originally looking for something else (a band - named Parcels).
