Lost In You
Ash Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Lying wide awake under strange skies
Wanting to call you but it is late at night
And you're far away
But you are always on my mind

I feel like I'm on fire, nothing I can do
I'm troubled with doubt
Though I know it is not true
And it's times like these

When I am dying to speak to you
I'm dying to get through
I'm dying to speak to you
Dying to get through

I'm dying to speak to you
Staring at the wall I sink inside
I think about it all I get caught up in my life
I can't think straight

Because it's tearing up my mind
I feel like I'm on fire, nothing I can do
I'm troubled with doubt
Though I know it is not true

And it's times like these
When I'm dying to speak to you
Dying to get through
Dying to get through

The more that I think, how I need you
The more that I think, the more it seems true
And now it means more
Than I ever meant it to

Ever meant it to
Lying wide awake under strange skies
Wanting to call you but it is late at night
And you're far away

But you are always on my mind
You are always on my mind
You are always on my mind
You are always on my mind

You are always on my mind

You are always on my mind
You are always on my mind

My girlfriend and I would make out to this song in her car in 2002. We're married now and we've been together for 19 years. One of my all-time favorite songs. Thank you, Ash.

1977 a perfect 90s album 😍

I have three kids when they were at their neonatal and toddler years, I used to sing this song to them as lullaby and they would instantly fall asleep. I'm keeping my record of this and pass it along to them when they grow up hopefully they'll bring back old memories.

I remember listening to this song when 1977 first came out, back in 1996. I was 13yrs old.

Love the sentiment of this song, it harks back to a time before constant social media connection, when you cannot call your girlfriend late at night because there's only a house phone and you'll wake her parents. So you're alone with your thoughts and doubts late at night, magnified because you're a teenager, alone and feeling isolated.

Tim Wheeler, writing great songs when I could barely write a homework essay.
