Ash's full-length debut "1977" was released in 1996 and followed 1994's mini album "Trailer". You're giving me the creeps, the creeps, the creeps
No your type is not a new phenomenon to me
I am making no pretense
Your unwanted influence
Makes me feel uptight and tense
Feeling sick in your presense
Arrogance and ignorance
Blatant low self confidence
Get out of my face
You're giving me the creeps, the creeps, the creeps
You're giving me the creeps, the creeps, the creeps
Parasite, you have no right to speak that way to me
All your insecurity
Ceaseless negativity
Self-loathing obnoxious thing
Say out of my way
You're giving me the creeps, the creeps, the creeps
You're giving me the creeps, the creeps, the creeps
You exist like a disease to spread your misery
You're giving me the creeps, the creeps, the creeps
You're giving me the creeps, the creeps, the creeps
Oh no!
Don't want to know!
You gotta go!
So obnoxious
Keep it away from me
Psychic vampire
Manifesting
You make me sick
You're giving me the creeps, the creeps, the creeps
You're giving me the creeps, the creeps, the creeps
No your type is not a new phenomenon to me
You're giving me the creeps, the creeps, the creeps
You're giving me the creeps, the creeps, the creeps
Stay away with your disease, don't need your misery
You're giving me the creeps, the creeps, the creeps
You're giving me the creeps, the creeps, the creeps
Giving me the creeps, the creeps, the creeps
You're giving me the creeps, the creeps, the creeps
Ash's song "The Creeps" is a straightforward critique of a certain type of person that tends to drain others with their negativity and self-absorption. The song's narrator sees right through the facade of the person and can't stand being in their presence. The person's behavior, characterized by arrogance and ignorance, is seen as malignant and obnoxious. The song's lyrics paint a picture of a toxic relationship, a situation where one person is constantly bringing the other down with their pessimistic outlook on life. The singer tells the person to stay away with their disease, and recognizes that this type of person is not a new phenomenon.
The repeated chorus of "You're giving me the creeps" reinforces the feeling of unease and discomfort that the person brings. The term "creeps" has a connotation of something unpleasant and unsettling, which fits perfectly with the song's message. The song's narrator recognizes that the person's negative behavior is a symptom of their own insecurities and self-loathing. The chorus tells the person to "keep it away" and "stay away," making it clear that this behavior is not welcome.
In terms of the song's arrangement, "The Creeps" is a fast-paced, energetic punk rock song that is perfectly suited to the lyrics' angry and frustrated tone. The repeated chorus is catchy and memorable, making it easy for listeners to sing along.
