Ash's full-length debut "1977" was released in 1996 and followed 1994's mini album "Trailer". No I won't be saved
Heart is in my mouth
As I turn my face away
And I walk down the deserted streets
Desolate and grey
Nothing more to say
Under winter skies
Imprisoned by the thought of you
Captured by your eyes
Mesmerized
No I won't be saved
I will always be enslaved
No I won't be saved
In my heart your name engraved
I'm down on my knees
In a willing sacrific
I won't confess my transgressions
I won't repent my vice
I'll pay the price
No I won't be saved
I will always be enslaved
No I won't be saved
In my heart your name engraved
No I won't be saved
I won't be saved
No I won't be saved
I won't be saved
The visions come at night
I feel I'm hypnotized
I tremble as I fall into
The furnace of your eyes
And out of sight
No I won't be saved
I will always be enslaved
No I won't be saved
I will love you to the grave
No I won't be saved
I will always be enslaved
No I won't be saved
In my heart your name engraved
Falling down
Falling down
Falling down
Falling down
The lyrics of "Won't Be Saved" by Ash depict a story of a person who is deeply in love with someone and is willing to sacrifice everything for them. The opening lines, "No I won't be saved, heart is in my mouth," reveal the singer's helplessness in the face of their love. They feel trapped and enslaved by their feelings, unable to escape the grip of the person they desire. The chorus, "No I won't be saved," is a defiant and resolute statement that the singer won't be saved from this love, and they will always be enslaved to it.
The second verse, "I'm down on my knees in a willing sacrifice," shows the singer's willingness to do anything for the one they love, even if it means suffering for them. They won't confess their transgressions or repent their vice, as all they care about is being with the object of their desire. As the song progresses, the singer becomes more and more consumed by their love, with visions that come to them at night and a feeling of being hypnotized by the person they're infatuated with.
The closing lines, "Falling down, falling down," suggest that the singer has fallen into a pit of love and can't climb out. They've lost control and are hurtling towards their fate, unable to resist the power of their feelings. Overall, "Won't Be Saved" is a poignant reflection on the all-consuming nature of love and the irresistible pull it can have over us when we fall under its spell.
