Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Asha Bhosle's song "Ga Re Kokila Ga" encourage the listener to sing with the mind, sing in tune, and sing alongside the rhythm of the beating heart. The lyrics go on to describe the intersection of joy and sorrow in life and how they come together beautifully in the fifth note in the scale. The song then describes how time can pass alongside the rhythm of the beats of the heart, and how music reigns supreme in the world. The lyrics ask the listener to turn into music, become one with it, and sing it loudly, expressing the heart's joy and sorrow.

The song primarily revolves around the transcendental power of music that can uplift and transport our souls. The singer urges listeners to surrender to the music to become one with it. The lyrics also draw parallels between music and life, as the notes can only be perfect when they come together, similar to how happiness and sorrow coexist in life. The song's central theme is that music is a higher power that moves and connects us all, beyond language and cultural barriers.

AWESSSSSSOME combination of Manna da and Asha,two greats

@raninegi6292

Manna Dey sahab received his musical training from his great Chacha K.C.Dey right from the age of 3 . He was the only singer who could sing the most difficult songs with ease because of his strong foundation in classical music .All the music directors ran to MannaDey whenever a very difficult or classical song came before them.. He was the only singer who could sing the most difficult song Ketaki Gulab Juhi Champak Ban Phoole with Pandit Bhim Sen Joshi in Basant Bahaar in 1957 . He was matchless and most talented.

@ShlokMalkauns

Fully agree he has many more gems in his crown like this one, everyone must have heard it multiple times like me https://youtu.be/h2t8PnNpXHA

Bharataratna Pt. Bhimsen Joshi was a true exponent of Hindustani classical music! While recording the Ketaki Champak,...Joshiji was told by the MD that the character for whom he was giving playback, finally loses the competition; Panditji accepted it, because he could never have lost in real life, such was his mastery of classical music! As far as Ashaji is concerned, the sisters had learnt classical music initially from their father and later from someone in Bombay! Thus, there was no dearth of classical singers in those days, except for heavily Punjabi accented female singers, who ruled before the advent of Mangeshkar sisters!

Another of those gems that prove how wonderful and unparalleled Asha Bhosle is.. no one could and can ever come even close to her singing skills and unimaginable versatility!! Wish both Manna De and Asha Bhosle had done more classical songs together...

@parmadola4993

True. Ashaji was much better singer than Lata and Rafi, who were always given the better songs and promoted by media heavily

@saurravchakrabarty9842

@@parmadola4993 So very true!
