Ashanti Lyrics

Hey Shanti.
It's me Shia.
I just want to congratulate you on everything
That's been going on and let you know that we all miss you up here.
I'm glad that your dreams are finally coming true.
You inspire me, your little sister Shia.
Call me back Butthead!

Overall Meaning

The above lyrics are from Ashanti's song "Shi Shi" and are spoken word by Shia, Ashanti's younger sister. The song is a tribute to their sisterly bond and Shia congratulates Ashanti on all of her accomplishments. She expresses how much she and the rest of their family miss Ashanti, but are proud of her success. Shia admires and is inspired by Ashanti's dedication to her dreams, which she has seen firsthand. With her playful use of "Butthead" at the end, Shia brings a lightheartedness to the emotional moment, nodding to their teasing sisterly relationship.

The song is an intimate look into the relationship between the two sisters and their familial bond. It is a sentimental moment for both Shia and Ashanti to reflect on their experiences together and how they've grown since then. You think you own whatever land you land on
The Earth is just a dead thing you can claim
But I know every rock and tree and creature
Has a life, has a spirit, has a name

You think the only people who are people
Are the people who look and think like you
But if you walk the footsteps of a stranger
You'll learn things you never knew, you never knew

Have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon
Or asked the grinning bobcat why he grinned
Can you sing with all the voices of the mountain
Can you paint with all the colors of the wind
Can you paint with all the colors of the wind

Come run the hidden pine trails of the forest
Come taste the sun sweet berries of the Earth
Come roll in all the riches all around you
And for once, never wonder what they're worth

The rainstorm and the river are my brothers
The heron and the otter are my friends
And we are all connected to each other
In a circle, in a hoop that never ends

Have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon
Or let the eagle tell you where he's been
Can you sing with all the voices of the mountain
Can you paint with all the colors of the wind
Can you paint with all the colors of the wind

How high does the sycamore grow?
If you cut it down, then you'll never know

And you'll never hear the wolf cry to the blue corn moon
For whether we are white or copper skinned
We need to sing with all the voices of the mountain
We need to paint with all the colors of the wind

You can own the Earth and still
All you'll own is Earth until
You can paint with all the colors of the wind

You think I'm an ignorant savage
And you've been so many places
I guess it must be so
But still, I cannot see
If the savage one is me
How can there be so much that you don't know?
You don't know

You think you own whatever land you land on
The Earth is just a dead thing you can claim
But I know every rock and tree and creature
Has a life, has a spirit, has a name

You think the only people who are people
Are the people who look and think like you
But if you walk the footsteps of a stranger
You'll learn things you never knew, you never knew

Can you paint with all the colors of the wind?
Can you paint with all the colors of the wind?

Come taste the sun sweet berries of the Earth
Come roll in all the riches all around you
And for once, never wonder what they're worth

I remember listening to this with my sister when I was five. To this day, this is still my favorite cover of the song. Ashanti has a beautiful and powerful voice and she put so much emotion into this song. Disney Mania was my childhood!

I like Ashanti's version so natural and straight from the heart.

@seanwilson531

more lyrical and tougher than than the actual sound of the movie actor. and the duet between her and Sis Shi Shi just gives me chills (in a good way of course)
