Awakened from my slumber by the thunder, lightning clapping
I am jolted awake by the noisy storm outside my window

Raining on my window pane and praying I make something happen
I hope that this rain will bring some positive change in my life

A preacher's prophecies never bothered me when I was younger
I used to tune out the sermons given by religious leaders when I was a child

Sitting on my Grandma's lap, as she cried I often wondered
I have fond memories of sitting with my grandmother, but I couldn't help but wonder why she was crying

What was her tears for?
I wondered why my grandmother was crying

Could it be for my grandfather?
I wondered if my grandmother was crying for my grandfather

Or maybe she felt for me 'cause I'll see more of those cold tomorrows
I thought my grandmother might have been crying for me, knowing that I would face difficulties in life

Then she see the world will up and turn on me
My grandmother knew that the world can be cruel and unforgiving

'Cause the morals that she often spoke were meant for 1923
My grandmother's values and principles may seem outdated in today's society

I fall asleep off in her arms, a Psalm was spoken
I felt safe and comforted as my grandmother read from the book of Psalms

The Lord is surely my shepherd, he lead me to the water
This line from the Psalm stuck with me and provided some solace in times of hardship

Thought that often stuck with with me
These words from the Psalm stayed with me throughout my life

Amongst the wolves that run the streets
I find myself in a dangerous and unpredictable environment

Out here paying dues to lose
I am struggling to succeed in life despite my efforts

I pray your angels come for me
I turn to religion and hope for divine intervention

A non-believer I never have and never could be
Despite my struggles and doubts, I have always had a deep faith in a higher power

Lord give me time to peep the signs I should see
I ask God for guidance and clarity to see the right path for me

Sipping got me feeling like a player riding clean
I am trying to find some enjoyment and pleasure in life despite my struggles

Bending corners hoping I might find my Savior on the curb
I turn to religion and spirituality in search of salvation

I rarely go to Church
I don't go to church very often

False prophets rocking Prada so I rarely feel the word
I struggle to connect with religious leaders who appear to be more concerned with material possessions than spirituality

Jezebels lurking in the pews on the first
I am wary of the hypocrisy and deception that may be present in seemingly devout congregations

Preacher's weaker than the deacon 'cause it's hard to fight the urge
I feel that even religious leaders struggle with temptation and human weakness

It's hard to live and serve when you on the Devil's turf
I find it difficult to remain faithful and true to my beliefs when I am surrounded by temptation and negativity

Sell your soul for the low with no sense of what it's worth
I see people compromise their values and beliefs for temporary gain without considering the long-term consequences

Don't get it twisted, I ain't no saint, I ain't no pastor
I acknowledge that I am not perfect and do not claim to be a religious leader or role model

But prayer ain't just for cloudy days and natural disasters
I believe in the power of prayer to provide guidance and support in all aspects of life, not just in times of crisis

Aware of what comes after, I bet you ain't for sure
I am conscious of the fact that there may be consequences to my actions or inactions in life, but I am unsure what those consequences may be

I was warned that Heaven ain't the only place to go
I have been cautioned that there may be alternative fates or destinations for the soul besides heaven

I'm doing what I can cause there really ain't much time
I try to live my life to the fullest and make the most of the time I have

I leave this in the Lord hands
I trust in God to guide me and take care of me

I'm tired of crying
I am exhausted from the struggles and hardships in my life and wish for some relief

Father forgive us for we know not what we do
I ask God for forgiveness for our human shortcomings and mistakes

Am I bias? I been pious put my nose up in the pews
I question whether I am judgmental or biased because of my devotion to religion and religious practices

Like Paul I bear good news
I strive to share positive and uplifting messages with others, like the biblical figure Paul

They think I'm pall-bearing
They believe that my message is negative or depressing

My message sounds like death to these hearers as they perish
Some people may interpret my religious messages as being pessimistic or depressing, leading them to lose faith or hope

Scaring to think we on the brink of death
The thought of death and the unknown can be frightening

But no one stops to look for answers on what happens next
Many people avoid thinking about the afterlife or what comes after death

Got a couple scriptures from my grandma
I received some religious teachings and guidance from my grandmother

Sayings from a preacher
I have heard religious sermons and messages from various religious leaders

But can't live out these standards that we heard it takes to reach 'em
Despite these teachings and guidance, it can be difficult to live up to the high expectations and standards set by religion

But when I look at Jesus
I find inspiration and guidance from the teachings and life of Jesus Christ

He live the life I couldn't
Jesus Christ led a perfect and righteous life that I strive to emulate

Suffered for my crime so I wouldn't
Christ sacrificed himself to absolve us of our sins and transgressions

I used to have to sneak into movies 'cause I couldn't afford to pay
I have experienced poverty and financial struggles in my life

Explain to me how someone paved my way
I question how my life was impacted and determined by factors outside of my control

When I hear K.R.I.T. Confessing I respect him
I admire the honesty and sincerity of the artist K.R.I.T. when he speaks about his struggles and shortcomings

Cause most of us be lying like our lives don't need perfecting
Many of us hide our flaws and imperfections, pretending that our lives are already complete and perfect

Nothing that we can muster, nothing that we can change
We are powerless to change certain aspects of our lives or personalities

Admitting that we're imperfect, offending God with our games
We must acknowledge our imperfections and accept that our actions and behaviors may not always align with religious principles

Now I found true religion, and it's not inside a denim
I have found a deeper spiritual connection and understanding that transcends material possessions

And 'em overpriced shades are never giving us vision, let's go
Material possessions like expensive sunglasses do not provide us with true insight or understanding

I seen another to know, so urgent
I have witnessed and experienced hardships and struggles that have taught me the urgency of seeking spiritual guidance and support
