Blues Stay Away From Me
Asleep At The Wheel Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Blues why don`t you let me be.
Don't know why you keep on haunting me?
Love was never meant for me,
True love was never meant for me.
Seems somehow we never can agree.
Dreams are like a memory.
Bringing back your love that used to be.
Tears, so many I can`t see,
Years don`t mean a thing to me.
Time goes by and still I can`t be free.
The song "Blues Stay Away From Me" by Asleep at the Wheel expresses the singer's plea to the blues to leave them alone. The lyrics convey the singer's heartbreak and suffering brought about by a failed love affair that he cannot let go of. He laments that although he understands that true love was never meant for him, he constantly finds himself haunted and hurt by the memories of the past. Love has become a source of pain rather than joy.
The song's melancholic tone is reflected in the lines "Life is full of misery, dreams are like a memory, bringing back your love that used to be." The singer is tormented by the memories of what was lost, and time passing by does nothing to help him heal. The chorus repeats the plea for the blues to stay away from him, emphasizing his desire to move on and let go of the past.
Overall, the song is a poignant expression of the pain that comes with heartbreak and the struggle to let go of what was lost. The blues serve as a metaphor for this emotional pain, an unwelcome presence that refuses to let the singer move on.
