The lyrics of Aster Aweke's song Tizita portray the universal experience of love and heartbreak. The song speaks about how the singer longs for her lover who has left her, and the deep longing she feels for their companionship once again. The singer says that she is always thinking of him, and even when she closes her eyes, she can see his smiling face. The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "destitude," meaning loneliness and emptiness, further emphasizing the overwhelming feelings of loss and heartbreak. I’m from Nigeria, I don’t speak nor understand Ethiopian language but the only songs which suits my soul these days are trans songs. This is where Aster songs comes in. I don’t have to understand the language but it deeply resonates with my soul and I intuitively understand she’s communicating love at a deeper level. Long live Aster-Long live Ethiopian.❤️
