Chet Baker fue mencionado por los pioneros de la Bossa Nova como inspiración. Astrud Gilberto en la única entrevista que concedió por Internet a un fan suyo, contó que en los 60', un día decidió ir a ver a Chet Baker (ella estaba con Stan Getz y Gary Burton en ese momento) y se sentó por allá para escucharlo. Chet de pronto tomó el micrófono y dijo al público "me informan que está bien al fondo en una mesa sentada Astrud Gilberto, quisiéramos pedirle a Astrud que suba para cantar una canción con nosotros!". Ella que fue muy tímida, como Barbra Streisand con miedo escénico, quiso salir corriendo con dirección a la puerta. Pero Chet era ídolo de sus años de adolescencia en Brasil y hubiera sido de muy mala educación. Así que subió caminando como Garota de Ipanema y saludó por primera vez con ese héroe suyo. Chet dijo a sus músicos "Boys, vamos un Fly Me To The Moon pero en ritmo bossa, como lo canta Astrud!"... Años después, Astrud se animó a escribir su primera canción 'Far Away', letra y música de ella. Pidió a su disquera que haga el intento para conseguir a Chet Baker, para un dúo y que toque su trompeta también... Este fue el resultado... Es raro encontrar a Astrud cantando a dúo * parece Ron Carter en el contrabajo

Chet Baker fue conocido por presentarse, cuando le contrataban como músico invitado para una canción, saludar, sacar su trompeta, y pedir al grupo base toquen la canción para aprendérsela. No leía mucho, si estudió formalmente al inicio un poco, pero prefería "la oreja", ya que comprendía de inmediato los cambios de acordes y lo que tenía que hacer melódicamente. Dr 'Old School' como Wayne Shorter, nunca se quedaba socializando ni conversando sobre lo que acababa de grabar. Simplemente, cuando el productor y en este caso la cantante, le decían que ya quedó todo OK, guardaba su trompeta y amablemente se despedía de todos en el estudio de grabación. Astrud no lo volvió a ver. Esta grabación fue en 1977

Wayne Shorter una ocasión en la que fue contratado para tocar en unas tres canciones del disco de otro músico, años después se enteró quel colega se había quedado con la impresión de que a Wayne, no le había gustado su música ni agradado su persona, por que cuando concluyó su participación, guardo su saxo y se despidió sin preámbulos. Wayne dijo: "Es que eso no lo hago nunca. Del barrio del que vengo, es muy mal visto si tu te pones a conversar con quien te contrata para que toques un poco en un disco suyo. No es tu disco, tu no eres parte de ese grupo ni de ese proyecto. Estas solo contratado para dar tu mejor interpretación de algo que no es tuyo. Se lo dije a mi colega años después y nos dimos un abrazo"...

Inicia Chet en modo español con paráfrasis de Concierto de Aranjuez (Chet participó de la versión del maestro de maestros guitarrista Jim Hall)... Mágico y raro escuchar a Astrud con otra voz como duo, pero fue su ídolo de la adolescencia Chet Baker, a quien había conocido una vez 10 años antes, y eso ya fue contacto precio para hacer que su disquera le llame y proponga participar
