4 Seasons
At The Close Of Every Day Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Leaves they come and go every springtime for the joy of the world
From the big oak tree to your little house they all fall down
Don't know what else to say, just stay low for a while
We pray the sun will shine next summer for all you boys and girls
Still tears they come and go every fall they won't let you down
From your eyes they drop on your dark blue dress again and again
Don't know what else to say, just stay low for a while
The lyrics to At The Close Of Every Day's song "4 Seasons" appear to be discussing the cyclical nature of life, as well as the changing of the seasons. The line "snow will come and go every winter before the sight of the world" refers to the predictable, cyclical nature of winter and the way it transforms the landscape. Similarly, "leaves they come and go every springtime for the joy of the world" speaks to the way that spring brings new life and growth to the world.
The chorus of the song seems to offer a message of hope and perseverance. The line "we pray the sun will shine next summer for all you boys and girls" speaks to a desire for a bright and prosperous future, while "still tears they come and go every fall they won't let you down" acknowledges the difficulties and hardships that life can bring. The final two lines of the chorus, "from your eyes they drop on your dark blue dress again and again, don't know what else to say, just stay low for a while" suggest that sometimes we may feel overwhelmed or defeated, but it's important to take time to rest and recover before facing life's challenges again.
Overall, "4 Seasons" is a poignant meditation on the cycles of life and the importance of resilience and hope in the face of adversity.
