Letters in Wonderland
Atlantis Awaits Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Where the piece of the string begins
There's nothing here for me
Look back and reflect on everything
We had and lost
Your face, your name won't mean a thing
But what I feel is eating away
We wrote this song for you
The lyrics of "Letters in Wonderland" by Atlantis Awaits can be interpreted as a reflection on a past relationship. The song speaks about feeling lost and wanting to go back to the beginning where everything started. The "piece of the string" refers to the starting point of the relationship, which may have been fragile, vulnerable and innocent. The singer seems to be mourning the loss of the relationship and is looking back to reflect on everything they had together. However, the person they shared these moments with is no longer present in their life.
The lyrics suggest that the singer is experiencing a lot of pain and sadness, and the memories of the past are eating away at them. They acknowledge that the person they were with has moved on and probably forgotten everything they had together, but the singer is still trying to hold on to something. The final line, "We wrote this song for you," suggests that despite everything, the singer is still trying to communicate with their former partner. Perhaps they are hoping that the song will bring the person back or at least make them understand the depth of the singer's emotions.
