The Sun
Atlas & Axis Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

If I had the time
I’d like to think that I could tell you
I'd like to think that I could help you get away
Help you find your way away from home
But I’ll keep minding mine
Fix a face and walk a line
And then maybe the next time I talk to you
You’ll be glad that you picked up the phone
Are we walking in parallel
With the sun in my eyes it’s hard to tell
Does it shine inside
Is there land and is there sky
Can you find enough points to make your plot
Of what is and what is not going to last
What would it be like
If you never had to try
If you struggled with the why but not the how
Does any of this count? I know you’ll ask
You can follow - you’ll find our track
But I can’t tell you when we’ll be back
Or even if we’re coming home
We are living in parallel
Catatonic or afraid
Or otherwise compelled
We are living in parallel
On your own road there you go
I hope that you are well
I hope that you are well
I hope that you are well

I hope that you are well
I hope that you are well

Overall Meaning

In "The Sun" by Atlas & Axis, the lyrics convey a sense of contemplation and introspection. The singer expresses a desire to help someone who may be feeling lost and in need of guidance. However, they acknowledge their own limitations and responsibilities in life, stating that they will prioritize their own affairs but hope that the person they are speaking to will eventually appreciate their effort.

The mention of "walking in parallel" with the sun in the singer's eyes suggests a metaphorical journey or experience. It becomes difficult to discern the true path or direction when faced with the blinding glare of the sun, symbolizing confusion or uncertainty. The singer wonders if there is any internal source of brightness or clarity, if there are tangible aspects like land and sky to define their existence.

The question of whether something truly matters arises, asking if the daily struggles and attempts to understand the purpose behind actions have any ultimate significance. The singer ponders the value of effort and achievement, wondering if there is a way to bypass the need for trying and simply exist without questioning. The uncertainty lingers, prompting the person they are addressing to inquire about the worth of it all.

The concept of living in parallel is emphasized, indicating that each individual is traversing their own distinct path, perhaps disconnected from the singer's own experiences. The various states of being, such as being catatonic, fearful, or compelled, further underline the diversity of human experiences. Despite this separation, the singer expresses hope for the well-being of the person they are addressing, emphasizing their genuine concern and wishing them the best.

Overall, "The Sun" explores themes of introspection, personal limitations, and the uncertainties of life. It conveys a sense of empathy and the longing to provide assistance, while acknowledging the complexity of individual journeys and the importance of personal growth.

Lyrics ❤️
Some saw the sun
Some saw the smoke
Some heard the gun
Some bent the bow
Sometimes the wire
Must tense for the note
Caught in the fire, say oh
We're about to explode
Carry your world
I'll carry your world
Carry your world
I'll carry your world
Some far away
Some search for gold
Some dragon to slay
Heaven we hope
Is just up the road
Show me the way, Lord
'Cause I am about to explode
Carry your world
I'll carry your world
Carry your world
I'll carry your world
Carry your world (Carry your world)
And all your hurt
Carry your world
Carry your world

I remember when Catching Fire came out, and this song played at the beginning for the credits. Usually you see people start to leave the theater, but no one moved! Everyone was listening to the song and watching the credits. It's a beautiful song, and Coldplay did a great job. It was a perfect song to end the movie!

Yes, I was so blown away. It fit perfectly with the ending and it's on itself a great song. Also, the next to songs ("Again" by "Abby" and "Silhouettes" from "Of Monsters and Men") were so amazing! I stayed until the end of all 3 songs 😍
