Say It To Me
Attack! Attack! Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Stuck in the seams with material dreams
You've got it all but you still want more
Devoted queen to the weekend scene
She's got it all, she's got it all
She takes her time to put on a smile

So unrehearsed but the lines save her every time
There's no escape from the skin you're in
You're telling lies and its your disguise but you don't fool me

Tell me what you think about
You know it's only yourself
Say it to me, say it to me
Tell me what you think about

You know it's only yourself
Say it to me, say it to me
Bored now it seems with the latest disease
You've got it all but you still want more

The life you lead is a fantasy
She's got it all, she's got it all
You need this to go just the way you want it to
You still need this to go just the way you want it to
Tell me what you think about
You know it's only yourself

Say it to me, say it to me
Tell me what you think about
You know it's only yourself
Say it to me, say it to me

There's nothing worse than faking it
There's nothing worse than faking it
There's nothing worse than faking it
There's nothing worse
Tell me what you think about

You know it's only yourself
Say it to me, say it to me
Tell me what you think about

You know it's only yourself
Say it to me, say it to me

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Attack! Attack!'s song "Say It To Me" touches upon the theme of superficiality and materialism in modern society. The opening lines depict the singer as someone who is stuck in the seams of "material dreams." Despite having everything, she desires more and is devoted to the weekend scene. She puts on an unrehearsed smile, and the lines save her every time. The singer acknowledges that there's no escape from the skin you're in, and although the singer is telling lies, it's her disguise that doesn't fool him. Instead of hiding behind her disguise, the singer urges her to say what she thinks to him.

As the chorus kicks in, the singer's boredom becomes apparent, and the singer reminds her that the life she leads is only a fantasy. The life she desires needs to go just the way she wants it to, and she still needs it to be perfect for her. The singer emphasizes that there's nothing worse than faking it and urges her to say what's on her mind, even if it's just to him.

The song highlights the tendency of modern society to focus too much on superficial things like materialistic dreams, fantasies, and weekend scenes, and the singer asks the singer to take off her mask, be honest with herself, and say what's on her mind, even if it's just to him.

The reason they have change so dramatically is because they have gone through alot of their band members. Different band members bring different ideas to the table.
