I Love Robot
Audio Learning Center Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Broken from the start
Bad assembly line
Sent out without spare parts
To ease you from your pain

Some how you had become
More than the sum of your parts
Along with certain problems
Came a soul, a brain, a heart

I was drawn
Like a moth
Into your light
Hard to know
Perfection
For just a little while

Paper capacitors
And tube technologies
Parts wear out after awhile
Happens to everything
A sick and twisted god
If one resides at all
Doing so little for
The one I love the most

Power surge shorted out
Blew your filaments
I'll rebuild bring you back
Until we're one again

I found the last part that I need
In an old goodwill stereo
Soldered it into place
In a few more moments

I should know
Turn your switch to on

Overall Meaning

The song "I, Robot" by Audio Learning Center talks about a robot that was faulty from the beginning due to a broken assembly line and being sent out without spare parts. Despite all of these problems, the robot became more than just the sum of its parts and developed a soul, a brain, and a heart. The singer was drawn to this broken robot, feeling it was perfect in its own way, but the imperfections and wear and tear on its parts eventually caught up to it. The singer becomes frustrated with a God who created such imperfections and does little to help the ones he loves the most. The song ends on a hopeful note as the singer finds the last part the robot needs and promises to rebuild it and make it whole again.

The robot in the song is used as a metaphor for human relationships and how imperfections and wear and tear can impact them. Additionally, the reference to the sci-fi classic "I, Robot" adds another layer to the lyrics.

I would but I can't. The rest of the album was a purchase on iTunes, these came with a restriction in many countries. This one however, was 'forgotten' to be added to the iTunes database so I purchased it somewhere else. It's the best song of the album imo.

As in that it's beautiful ? =P Lol, no I can see it. Slow almost hushed build-up, crescendo with multiole vocals. Yeah a bit.
