Queendom
Aurora Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

The underdogs are my lions
The silent ones are my choir
The women will be my soldiers
With the weight of life on their shoulders

Drink until you;ve had enough
I'll drink from your hands
I will be your warrior
I will be your lamb

Oh eh oh ah eh oh ah ah
Ah ah oh eh oh
Till queendom come
Till queendom come
My queendom come
My queendom come

The sea waves are my evening gown
And the sun on my head is my crown
I made this queendom on my own
And all the mountains are my throne

Drink until you've had enough
I'll drink from your hands
I will be your warrior
I will be your lamb

Oh eh oh ah eh oh ah ah
Ah ah oh eh oh
Till queendom come
Till queendom come
My queendom come
My queendom come

Ah oh ah
My queendom come
My queendom come
Oh oh

I hunt the grounds for empathy
And hate the way it hides from me
Of care and thirst I have become
You have a home in my queendom
You have a home in my queendom
You have a place in my queendom
You have a home

Till queendom come
Till queendom come
My queendom come
My queendom come
My queendom come
My queendom come

My queendom come
My queendom come

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Aurora's song "Queendom" express the empowering message of building a kingdom, or a queendom, in which underdogs become lions, the silent become the choir, and women become soldiers. The weight of life on their shoulders insinuates the idea of opposition, as the singer and inhabitants of the Queendom have to fight for their place as they are often overlooked or rejected by society. However, this queendom is built on self-sufficiency, independence, and individuality. The sea waves symbolize the elegance and beauty of nature, and the sun on the singer's head represents the radiance and warmth of the soul. The Queendom is individualistic, given that every mountain by which it is ruled, and every individual in that Queendom is unique and deserving of their own throne.

The verse "I hunt the grounds for empathy and hate the way it hides from me" speaks to the challenges and opposing forces encountered in this quest to build the Queendom. The singer struggles to find empathy as it is not prevalent in the world, and it is hidden amidst negativity, apathy, and hate. Moreover, the Queendom becomes a haven, a sanctuary for those who seek care and thirst (desire). It is a place where one can establish and expand upon their individuality.

This song was AMAZING In SkyCOTL's concert! Just to fly along her with like 4000 other Sky kids was truly MEZMERIZING!!

The coliseum was beautiful at night with all the decorations, yoga/mindfullness room, crab races, photo stand, the tea tables, the seesaw and swings, the music spot and that people could see your messages!

TGC really packed out this time because my goodness it was a blast to experience this musical voyage with my friends! This is where memories are made! I'm glad Aurora is a part of Sky's wonderful soundtrack and can't wait to see (and hear) more of her works in the future!

I thank Aurora, TGC and eveyone who made this event possible.

Our lights truly do shine brighter together.

While I was in the Navy, I had the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life. One woman who I absolutely adore happened to be Samoan. She and I were only 20 years old at the time but, she was wise beyond our years. She and I would sing songs and harmonize below the ships decks while everyone else slept, it was magical.

Anyway, one thing she told me that really stuck with me was while she was singing a song from her ancestors. I cannot remember for the life of me what the name was, but it moved me. I told her I have found it increasingly difficult to connect to lyrics with todays music. More and more of it just sounds like noise to me, and I cant get my heart to connect. I had tears welling up as I told her how her song moved me so and she looked me dead in the eyes and said, "my grandmother always told me 'if you find yourself being moved emotionally by the songs and art of other cultures, it is your ancestors trying so hard to connect. Listen to them and follow that feeling for only good things will ever come of it' and she was always right".

This song moved me beyond tears. In a world where no one talks about empathy and acceptance; news headlines are almost always tragic, wrapped in anger and hatred; I stumbled across this work of art out of the blue when I needed it most.

Immediately I scrambled for a notebook and a pen and began writing again. I haven't written a lyric in 4 years. Aurora, you are otherworldly. You have moved me and touched my soul in a way I never thought an artist would again. Thank you so much for sharing your gift with the world. I will follow this feeling and listen closely to it, nurture it and never let it fade again.

Have a wonderful night.

Your new fan,
Annie, New York

These are the English lyrics to Helvegen. Even thought they are rally beautiful the main aspect is their voices and the feeling the music emitted. It is quit magical and very primal.

Who will sing me
Into the death-sleep sling me
When I walk the road to Hel
And the tracks I tread
Are cold, so cold

I sought the songs
I sent the songs
When the deepest well
Offered drops so mighty
Of Valfather’s pledge

I know it all, Odin
Where you hid your eye

Early or in fading day
Still the raven knows if I fall

When you stand by the gate of Hel
And when you must tear loose
Follow you I shall
Across the bridge of Gjöll
With my song

You will be free from the bonds that bind you
You are free from the bonds that bound you

[Håvamål - The High Ones' Speech, Poetic Edda]

Cattle die, kinsmen die
You yourself will also die
But the word about you will never die
If you win a good reputation

Cattle die, kinsmen die
You yourself will also die
I know one thing that never dies
The reputation of those who died

No one is trying to police you wtf.

If it's purely figurative then I don't see why you'd respond, as my comment applies to folk who literally believe in spirits.

"Just chemicals" tho.
Ah yes you probs find science boring.

I am so glad that Sky brought a new wave of Aurora fans. She is absolutely moving and wholesome.
One of the most underated artists out there.

Really, friend. I discovered her not through sky, but she had a song that was the same name of a meditation I used to listen to.
