As Lucas became old enough to attend school, he also was sent to the Indiana University Children's Choir to hone his gift of singing. Although he would stay in this program for 6 years, performing in 3 operas as well as dozens of classical choral pieces, he never learned to love or appreciate this music until much later in his life. When Lucas was 12, he removed himself from the choir and went off in search of louder and faster music. It was in the punk and hardcore scene where Lucas found himself and has remained for the last 16 years. He playied in crust and grind bands Rune and Twentythird Chapter, as well as technical punk outfit K10 Prospect. Lucas lived in Praha, Czech Republic for a few years, but now he's back in the U.S. where he splits his time between touring solo with his own folk material, and playing guitar in the Orc-core Crust band Guided Cradle.
Lucas has released two solo demo's, two full lengths entitled "The Common Cold" in 2006 and "Putting The Hammer Down" in 2008. Lucas teamed up with Chuck Ragan of Hot Water Music to release both a split 7" in 2007, as well as a full length collaborative album called "Bristle Ridge." Most recently, in 2009, Lucas has released an Under The Influence split 7" with Frank Turner and a new full length entitled "Somebody Loves You."
In the summer of 2008, Lucas appeared on many dates of the Revival Tour alongside Chuck Ragan, Tim Barry (of Avail), Ben Nichols (of Lucero), among several others. And starting in May 2009 through the end of June, Lucas is on a European tour with Mike Hale and Josh Small.

A rare and precious thing
I tried to call out but I didn't hear an answer
You were too far away
It was the spring and my life was a patchwork of pieces
Sewn and tattered memories
I got the feeling yours was somehow the same
Let me in, let me in, let me in before my hands
Let me in before my hands begin
Let me in before you find that I'm hollow on the inside
Let me in before my hands begin to shake
We got married in the summer
We set ourselves to fall
It went right though we did the damn thing twice
Maybe I'm not the marrying kind
Let me in, let me in, let me in before my hands
Let me in before my hands begin
Let me in before you find that I'm hollow on the inside
Let me in before my hands begin to shake
Let me in before my hands begin to shake
Let me in before my hands begin
The lyrics of Austin Lucas's song Let Me In paint a picture of finding a rare and precious connection with someone amidst the darkness and uncertainty of life. The singer discovers this person among the shadows and branches, but is initially met with silence. Despite this, they feel a deep need to reach out and connect with them, recognizing in them a similar sense of brokenness and fragmentation. The sense of urgency in the chorus, repeated several times throughout the song, reflects the singer's fear of losing this connection before they can truly be let in and accepted.
As the song progresses, we learn that the two individuals end up getting married and embarking on a journey together. However, there is still a sense of uncertainty and hesitation, with the singer acknowledging that maybe they aren't cut out for the commitment of marriage. Despite this, they still desperately want to be let in and accepted by their partner, fearful that their own inner emptiness and shaky hands might betray them.
Overall, Let Me In is a powerful and emotional ode to the human need for connection and the fear that often accompanies it. The lyrics are raw and honest, perfectly capturing the vulnerability and uncertainty that come with opening ourselves up to another person.
